ObjectiveAcne conglobata has the pathological characteristics of phlegm and blood stasis in the theory of traditional Chinese medicine. In this study,Yuhu Qudou Fang was used as the experimental drug, and the control group was oral antibiotics and topical anti-inflammatory cream.By observing the changes of skin lesions and TCM syndromes in the two groups, the new ideas of treatment for acne were discussed, and the clinical cure rate was expected to be improved,so as to benefit more acne patients.MethodsThe clinical cases collected in this study were all 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria in the outpatient department of dermatology of the first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from January 2018 to December 2018.They were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with oral Yuhu Qudou Fang combined with antibiotics and topical anti-inflammatory cream, while the control group was treated with oral antibiotics and topical anti-inflammatory cream. The course of treatment in both groups was 8 weeks.Observed and compared the acne comprehensive rating system score,TCM syndrome score, acne disability index in Cardiff,acne-specific quality of life index and clinical efficacy of the two groups before and after treatment.Results(1)The changes of skin lesions at week 4 and week 8 were statistically significant, and both of which were significantly improved compared with those before treatment. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant, and the improvement of skin lesion score in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.(2)There were statistically significant differences in the acne disability index in Cardiff and the acne-specific quality of life index of the two groups at the fourth and eighth weeks of treatment,as well as the TCM symptom score at the eighth weeks of treatment between the two groups, all of which were significantly improved compared with those before treatment. All the improvement of treatment group were better than that in the control group.(3)The difference of the clinical total effective rate of the two groups was statistically significant.ConclusionsYuhu Qudou Fang is effective for the treatment of acne conglobata.Correct syndrome differentiation is needed and the combination of TCM and western medicine can optimize the clinical effect.
