A Clinical Observation On Acupuncture Combined With Shuttle Moxibustion Along Meridians In Treating Low Protein Edema In Tumor Patients

ObjectiveOn the basis of supplementation of albumin,this study observed and compared the therapeutic effects of acupuncture combined with shuttle moxibustion along meridians from Shuifen to Guanyuan and usual acupuncture for the purpose of exploring the clinical value of the former therapy for more details.MethodIn accordance with the inclusion criteria and the exclusion criteria,38 cases of tumor patients accompanying low protein edema were taken into account based on the voluntary principle in this study.On the basis of supplementation of albumin,the experiment was divided into two stages.The former stage was given acupuncture combined with shuttle moxibustion along meridians from Shuifen to Guanyuan,while the latter stage was treated with usual acupuncture.The acupoint selection and course of treatment were the same in the two stages.Patients were treated once a day in each stage,7 times as a course of treatment,and the interval of two stages was a month.In the end of the experiment,the clinical efficacy was evaluated by observing the changes of various indicators and statistical analysis of the two stages.ResuItIn the end,38 cases of tumor patients accompanying low protein edema were taken into the study,and only 32 patients finished the whole course of treatment.The statistical analysis are as follows:1?There were significant differences(P<0.05)among the data of 1-inch below the knee,the highest point of gastrocnemius muscle,1-inch straight tip of medial malleolus on patients' left leg as well as the data of abdominal circumference?the score of SF-36(PCS&MCS)and edema before and after treatment(P<0.05),which indicated that the treatment of acupuncture combined with shuttle moxibustion along meridians from Shuifen to Guanyuan not only had therapeutic effect on eliminating edema of legs and ascites effectively,but can also improving the physical and mental health of the patients,accordingly to improve their life quality.There was no difference between the efficiency of before and after treatment in body weight(P>0.05),which indicated that the treatment can not lose weight significantly.2?There were significant differences between the two groups in terms of the highest point of gastrocnemius muscle on patients' left leg as well as the data of abdominal circumference after treatment(P<0.05),which indicated that the treatment of acupuncture combined with shuttle moxibustion along meridians from Shuifen to Guanyuan was more effective than usual acupuncture in eliminating edema on middle part of shank and ascites effectively;there was no difference between the two groups in terms of 1-inch below the knee,1-inch straight tip of medial malleolus on patients' left leg and their body weight,which indicated that two treatment had the same therapeutic effect on losing weight and eliminating edema on upper as well as lower part of shank.3?There were significant differences between the score of edema in two groups after treatment(P<0.05),which indicated that the treatment of acupuncture combined with shuttle moxibustion along meridians from Shuifen to Guanyuan was more effective than usual acupuncture in eliminating edema on the edema form.And its edema subsiding was faster than usual acupuncture.4?There was significant difference between the score of PCS in two groups after treatment(P<0.05),which indicated that the treatment of acupuncture combined with shuttle moxibustion along meridians from Shuifen to Guanyuan was more effective than usual acupuncture in improving physical health of the patients;but there was no difference between the score of MCS(P>0.05),which indicated that the two treatments had the same therapeutic effect on improving mental health of the patients.5?The total efficiency of the former stage was 76.47%,while the latter stage was 46.88%.The difference was significant(P<0.05),it implied that the effect of the treatment of acupuncture combined with shuttle moxibustion along meridians from Shuifen to Guanyuan in treating low protein edema in tumor patients was more significant than usual acupuncture.ConclusionThe study indicated that the treatment of acupuncture combined with shuttle moxibustion along meridians from Shuifen to Guanyuan eliminated low protein edema of tumor patients effectively,especially in reducing the circumference of the highest point of gastrocnemius muscle on patients' left leg and abdomen,improving physical health and the score of edema of the patients;meanwhile,its edema subsiding was faster than usual acupuncture.
