Objective:To observe the clinical efficiency of needling "Baliao" acupoints with different types wave of electroacupuncture apparatus on treating lumbar disc herniation patients, and to optimize the choosing of electroacupuncture type wave for treating lumbar disc herniation.Methods:108 cases corresponding to inclusion criteria of lumbar disc herniation were randomly divided into three groups:disperse-dense wave, intermittent wave and continuous wave, each group having 36 patients. All groups needled "Baliao"as the main acupoints with each group corresponding type wave of electroacupuncture apparatus for once a day for 20 minutes a time for 10 days.Through comparing The VAS(Visual Analogue Scale)pain score and JOA score of the three groups before and after treatment, and the improvement rate calculated according JOA score,to evaluate the overall efficacy. Results:?Comparison of general data:there were no statistically significant differences among the three groups in gender, age, lesions in the lower limbs and the position of herniated disc(P>0.05),which were comparable.?VAS pain score:before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in VAS score among the three groups(P>0.05),which was comparable. After treatment, the VAS score in the three groups was lower than that before treatment, and the difference had statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared VAS score among the three groups after treatment, the differences had no statistically significant(P>0.05).Compared the value of VAS score before treatment minus VAS score after treatment in the three groups, the difference had statistically significant(P<0.05),the disperse-dense group>continuous group>intermittent group.?JOA score:before treatment, there was no significant difference in JOA score among the three groups(P>0.05),which was comparable. After treatment,JOA scores in the three groups were all higher than before treatment, and the difference had statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared JOA score among the three groups after treatment, the differences showed no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).?Overall efficacy evaluation:after treatment, the disperse-dense wave group had 23 clinical control cases,8 significant effect cases,1 effective cases and 2 ineffective cases, effective rate was 94.12%.In the intermittent wave group, there were 24 clinical control cases,6 significant effect cases,3 effective cases and 2 ineffective cases, effective rate was 94.29%.Continuous wave group had 21 clinical control cases,11 significant effect cases,2 effective cases and 1 ineffective cases, effective rate was 97.12%.Overall efficacy was compared among the three groups, and the difference was no statistically insignificant(P>0.05).Compared the effective rate among the three groups,The continuous group>intermittent group>disperse-dense group. Conclusion:To needle "Baliao" acupoints with the three types wave of electroacupuncture apparatus can relieve pain and improve clinical symptoms of patients with lumbar disc herniation in the acute phase.Comparing the clinical efficacy of the three groups, there was no significant difference among the three wave types. In the pain relief, the disperse-dense wave is better than the intermittent wave and continuous wave.
