Objective This study investigated the efficacy of Jawei Xiaofeng Powder soaking in the treatment of HFS,one of the adverse reactions caused by the targeted drug apatinib, and whether it had more effective effects in reducing pain, promoting healing and improving the quality of life of patients compared with vitamin B6 alone, paving the way for the future clinical application of targeted drugs and increasing the involvement of traditional Chinese medicine in the fight against tumors. Methods In this clinical study,a total of 60 patients with hand and foot syndrome who were clinically and cytologically or pathologically diagnosed as malignant tumors and were treated with apatinib were randomly divided into 30 treatment groups and 30 control groups. The control group was given vitamin B6 orally. In the treatment group,Jawei Xiaofeng Powder was externally washed once a day while the control group was treated, and a course of treatment was observed for 21 days. After 21 days, the pain relief,HFS treatment effect,NRS score and ECOG score of the two groups were compared for statistical analysis. Results Baseline comparison:There was no significant difference in gender, age, disease type, symptoms,KPS score between the two groups(P>0.05).Comparison of effective rate:The overall effective rate of the treatment group(78.6%)was higher than that of the control group(51.7%),and the difference in the degree of NCI grading degradation between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Comparison of pain relief:The rate of pain relief in the treatment group was 73.9%,and that in the control group was 47.1%.The rate of relief in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).KPS score: After treatment, the distribution of KPS scores in the treatment group and the control group showed a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion External washing with traditional Chinese medicine decoction is effective in treating hand-foot syndrome after targeted treatment with oral apatinib.According to the comparison between the two groups before and after treatment,it can be seen that on the basis of oral treatment with vitamin B6,external washing with Jawei Xiaofeng Powder showed better efficacy, significant pain relief and improved quality of life of the patients, which was better than oral treatment with vitamin B6 alone.
