Objective1?To explore the sleep characteristics of depression in adolescents by comparing the sleep characteristics of patients with or without depression?2?The sleep characteristics of depressed adolescents were studied by comparing them with and without anxiety.MethodsA questionnaire survey was conducted among 8516 students in two middle schools in Ningbo and Guangzhou. The survey included demographic characteristics, the status of anxiety and depression(SAS Self Rating Anxiety Scale;BDI Beck Depression scale),overall subjective sleep status(ISI Insomnia severity Index scale,MEQ early morning/night scale,ESS Epworth Sleep scale and PSQI Pittsburgh Sleep quality Survey). After collecting data, statistics and analysis are carried out by SPSS software. With BDI=14,SAS=40 as the dividing point, all the samples were divided into three groups:(NDG),without depression,(NADG)with depression but without anxiety and(ADG)with depression and anxiety. On the basis of this grouping, the subjective sleep characteristics were analyzed.ResultsThe subjective sleep symptoms in depression group(with or without anxiety)were significantly more serious than that in non-depression group, that is,sleep quality was worse, insomnia rate was higher, daytime function damage was more serious, night type ratio was more serious. The factors of PSQI showed that the sleep latency was longer, the sleep problem was more significant, the daytime function was worse, the sleep efficiency was lower, the total sleep time was shorter and the subjective sleep quality was worse in the depression group than in the non-depression group. The depression group with anxiety also had worse sleep in all aspects than the depression group without anxiety. The results showed that the risk of various sleep symptoms in the depression group was significantly higher than that in the non-depression group, and the sleep risk in the depression group with anxiety was significantly higher than that in the depression group without anxiety.ConclusionConsistent with most previous literature, depression increases the risk of multiple sleep symptoms.More importantly,we find that the combination of anxiety symptoms increases the risk of various subjective sleep symptoms:in depressive patients.
