Objective: Nursing students from a secondary vocational school in Jilin Province were investigated in this study to analyze their mental health status and influencing factors.This study aims to explore the mediating role of subjective well-being in parenting style,student cynicism and mental health,and reveal their intrinsic connections and interactions.In order to cause more attention to the mental health of secondary vocational nursing students in schools and society and improve the psychological quality and psychological nursing skills of nursing students,this study aims at providing a theoretical basis for the prevention and intervention of nursing students’ mental health problems.Method: Convenient sampling was used in this study to select nursing students from a secondary vocational school in Jilin Province as the research object.The questionnaire was answered anonymously.A total of 490 questionnaires were distributed in this study,and 461 valid questionnaires were collected.The effective recovery rate of the questionnaire was 94.08%.The questionnaire included general demographic characteristics,mental health,parenting style,student cynicism,and subjective well-being.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 24.0.A value of P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results: 1.Secondary vocational nursing students were significantly higher than the norm in the SCL-90 score,except for interpersonal factors and depression factors.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The overall positive detection rate of secondary nursing students in SCL-90 was 26.09%.Forcing symptoms,interpersonal relationships,and hostility were the top three factors for the detection of psychological symptoms.Students who were freshman,excellent academic performance,living with parents,parents in good marital,not drinking,satisfied with current living conditions,and shorter smartphone usage time had lower scores in SCL-90.Such students had better mental health.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.Most parents used emotional and warm parenting methods to raise children.Students who were excellent academic performance,lived with parents,parents in good marital,not drinking,satisfied with current living conditions,and shorter smartphone usage time had higher scores in the parental warm understanding dimension,and had lower scores in parental rejection and parental overprotection dimension.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.The average score of cynical attitude was 2.77±0.65,which was higher than the theoretical median of 2.5.The average score of cynical attitude from high to low was policy cynicism(2.82±0.97),social cynicism(2.81±0.89),academic cynicism(2.76±0.76),and institutional cynicism(2.71±0.76).Students who were excellent academic performance,lived with parents,parents in good marital and not drinking had lower scores in the cynical attitudes.Difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Students who were satisfied with living conditions had lower score in policy cynicism.Students who had longer smartphone usage time had higher scores in social cynicism.The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).4.The average score of the overall emotional index was 4.92±1.32,life satisfaction was 4.85±1.53,and subjective well-being was 10.26±2.76.Students who were excellent academic performance,parent in good marital,not drinking,satisfied with current living conditions and shorter smartphone usage time had higher scores in subjective well-being.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The male students scored significantly higher on the overall emotional index and subjective well-being index than females.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Students who livied with parents scored significantly higher on the overall emotional index and subjective well-being index than students who only lived with father or mother or were not often with parents.The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).5.Parenting style,subjective well-being,and mental health were significantly related with each other.Parental rejection and parental overprotection were positively correlated with SCL-90 factors and total mean(P<0.01).Emotional warmth was negatively correlated with SCL-90 factors and total mean(P<0.01).Parental rejection and parental overprotection were negatively correlated with subjective well-being,respectively(P<0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between the emotional warmth and subjective well-being(P<0.01).Subjective well-being was negatively correlated with SCL-90 factors and total mean(P<0.01).6.Cynical attitude,subjective well-being and mental health were significantly correlated with each other.The dimensions of the cynical attitudes were positively correlated with SCL-90 and the total scores(P<0.01).There was a significant negative correlation between the dimensions of the cynical attitudes and subjective well-being(P<0.01).7.Subjective well-being played a partial mediating role in parenting style and mental health.8.Subjective well-being played a partial mediating role in cynical attitude and mental health.Conclusion The mental health of secondary vocational nursing students is relatively poor compared with the national norm,and needs to be improved.Grade,academic achievement,growth situation,parents marital status,drinking,and smartphone usage time are the influencing factors of mental health of secondary nursing students;Parental style,cynical attitude and subjective well-being are the sociological influencing factors of mental health.Subjective well-being has partially mediating effect between parental style and mental health.And subjective well-being has partially mediating effect between student cynical attitude and mental health of nursing students.
