Objectives: The aim of this study was to understand the mental health status of nursing students who were in nursing training and the frequency and intensity of stressful events at different time points. This study was adopted to investigate the regularity for change of the mental health status and its relationship with work stress, turnover intention and well-being. Methods: This portrait survey research investigated 101 nursing students in Grade 2005 who were able to join in nursing training with convenience sampling at Hunan technical school applying with SCL-90, Turnover Intention scale, General Well Being Schedule. This research had 3 stages and lasted 7 months.By the help of SPSS13.0, statistical description was illustrated; independent sample t-test was adopted to investigate the different of the mental health status between the nursing students and national youth model; Chi-square test was adopted to compare the incident rate of psychological disorders at different time points; one-factor analysis of variance was adopted to analyze the work stress, turnover intention and well-being.Results:①The independent sample T-test result showed: The vocational nursing students in different time point during the practice training period, F1, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8 and F9 in SCL-90 factors scored significantly higher than the normal model of national youth group at the time point T0 (p <0.05); The most of the SCL-90 factor (except F1 and F9) was significantly lower than the normal model of nation at the time point T1; The others of the SCL-90 factors (except F2 and F3 were significantly lower than the normal model) which compared to the national normal model were non-statistics significance at the time point T6.②The Chi-square test result showed: At different time points, the difference of the vocational nursing students' mentality problem occurrence rate of had no statistics significance (P > 0.05).③One-way ANOVA results showed that: At different time points the vocational nursing students' CNSS total scores,SCL-90 scores were statistically significant (P <0.05),but the scores of Stress Scale factors, turnover intention, the overall well-being were no statistics significance.④Pearson correlation analysis and stepwise regression results showed that: The factor 2 and factor 5 in the CNSS of the factors were positively correlated with the SCL-90 total score at the time point T0(P<0.05), turnover intention and overall well-being were highly negatively correlated with the SCL-90 scores at the time point T0(P<0.01), and overall well-being and the factor 5 entered the regression equation at the time point T0(P<0.01); The factor 1, factor 2, factor 5 and factor 6 were highly positively correlated with the SCL-90 total score at the time point T1(P<0.01), turnover intention and overall well-being were negatively correlated with the SCL-90 scores at the time point T1(P<0.05), turnover intention, overall well-being and the factor 2 entered the regression equation at the time point T1(P<0.05);All the factors of the CNSS were highly positively correlated with the SCL-90 total score at the time point T3(P<0.01), turnover intention and overall well-being were highly negatively correlated with the SCL-90 scores at the time point T3(P<0.01), overall well-being, the factor 2 and turnover intention entered the regression equation at the time point T3(P<0.05).Conclusion:①The mental health status of the vocational nursing students before in the practice training period was bad than the national normal model of the age of 18~19 years; the other factors'(except F1 & F9) status of the mental health status were better than the national normal model after doing the practice training for 1 month; F2 & F3 were better than the national normal model after doing the practice training for 6 months, the other factors' status was no difference with the national normal model.②The mental health status of the vocational nursing students before in the practice training period was worst before doing the practice training, and better after doing the practice training for 1 month, but the mental health status had been a downward trend at the end of doing the practice training for 6 months (but this mental health status was better than the status before in the practice training period). And turnover intention and overall well-being were no very sweeping change, basically stable.③At different test time points, the influencing factors to vocational nursing students' mental health were different and the relative importance of different factors were different.
