Objective:Understand the current status of nurses’ turnover intention and perceived socialsupport in Changchun; Research the impact of general demographic information onnurses’ turnover intention and perceived social support; Analyze the correlationbetween nurses’ turnover intention and perceived social support; Discuss the maininfluencing factors of nurses’ turnover intention; According to the analysis results,people should propose pointed measures, enhance nurses’ social support, reducenurses’ separation rate, stabilize nurses team and provide reference basis for nursinghuman resource management and increasing quality of nursing service.Methods:We investigated672nurses working in three3-A general hospitals in Changchunby the method of convenience sampling. A general demographic survey scale, aturnover intention scale and a perceived social support scale were included in thequestionnaires. Epidata3.1software was used to enter the data into the computer,Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS)13.0for Windows was used toperform the statistical analyses. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, t-text,one-factor analysis of variance, Pearson’s correlation analysis and multiple linearstepwise regression analysis.Results:1. The total turnover intention score for the nurses was13.49±3.36, the totalaverage score was2.25±0.59, the score for three dimensionality was respectively: thetotal turnover intention Ⅰscore was3.97±1.54, the average score was1.98±0.77; thetotal turnover intention Ⅱscore was3.92±1.54, the average score was1.96±0.77; the total turnover intention Ⅲscore was5.61±1.14, the average score was2.80±0.57.58.7%nurses’ turnover intention was at a higher and above level.2. The results of one-factor analysis of variance showed that the differences ofnurses’ turnover intention in gender, professional rank, department, employmentstatus and monthly income had statistical significance (p<0.05).3. The total perceived social support score for the nurses was66.58±11.59, thetotal average score was5.55±0.97; the total support in family score was22.01±4.64,the average score was5.50±1.16; the total support out of family score was44.57±7.75,the average score was5.57±0.97.4. The results of one-factor analysis of variance showed that the differences ofnurses’ perceived social support in age, gender, marital status, working years,professional rank, department and monthly income had statistical significance (p<0.05).5. Correlation analysis revealed that the nurses’ turnover intention hadcorrelation with perceived social support(p<0.05).6. The results of multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed thatperceived social support, department, employment status and monthly income werethe influencing factors of nurses’ turnover intention, all these four factors couldexplain18.4%of the total variation. The lower the level of nurses’ perceived socialsupport, the stronger the turnover intention; compared with the nurses working indepartment of pediatric, the turnover intention score for nurses working in departmentof emergency and surgical was higher, it explained that they had stronger turnoverintention; in respect of employment status, compared with formally employed nurses,the turnover intention score for contract employed nurses was higher than them; theturnover intention score for nurses whose monthly income was4001~5000RMB waslower than nurses whose monthly income was≤2000RMB.Conclusion:1. Nurses exhibited a high level of turnover intention, gender, professional rank,department, employment status and monthly income in general demographicinformation were the influencing factors of nurses’ turnover intention. 2. Nurses exhibited a middle level of perceived social support, age, gender,marital status, working years, professional rank, department and monthly income ingeneral demographic information were the influencing factors of nurses’ perceivedsocial support.3. Negative correlation had be found between nurses’ turnover intention andperceived social support.4. Perceived social support, department, employment status and monthly incomewere the main influencing factors of nurses’ turnover intention.
