Objective To survey and in-depth interviews to understand current situation for neonate's parents discharge readiness, analysis the influence factors of influencing newborn's parents discharge readiness,In order to optimize the preparation process and discharge plan for neonate's parents, improve the ability of newborn's parents out of the hospital care, reduce the psychological burden of parents, improve the quality of live for newborn and their parents,to provide a reference basis. Methods The investigative study:Hospitalized newborns and their parents from neonatology department of a tertiary hospital in Nanning were recruited as a convenience sample from the October of the year of 2017 to the January of the year of 2018.The general information questionnaire and Newborn Care Ability Questionnaire were used to assess demographics and care ability of hospitalized neonate's parents.SPSS22.0 was used to analyse the data.Measurement data are expressed by mean, standard deviation. The counting data is expressed in frequency and composition ratio. The influencing factors of parents' newborn care ability score were analyzed by multiple stepwise regression analysis. The qualitative study: To explore the cognitive of current situation and influencingfactors of hospitalized neonate's parents discharge readiness in nurses from neonatology department of a tertiary hospital in Nanning were recruited into the semi-structure interviews, using the Colaizzzi seven-step analysis method and Nvivo8.0 software analysis the interview data. Results The total average score of parental care ability of first-born hospitalized newborn's parents was 62.11±13.74,the total average score of parental care ability of non-first-born neonatal parents was 103.10±16.02.The average score of maternal newborn care ability score was higher than the fathers',and the difference was statistically significant.Parental care knowledge is positively correlated with care skills. The multiple stepwise regression analysis found that education background, the type of discharge care, the hospital time of the newborn, the distance between the home and the hospital, day age of neonatal admission, the age of the parent's last child enter the regression equation of newborn care ability score of the first-born neonatal father, the first-born neonatal mother,non-first-born neonatal father and non-first-born neonatal mother respectively.Interview data found three themes:(1)The Current situation of hospitalized neonate's parents discharge readiness:The newborn care ability is inadequate and psychological ability is adequate for neonatal parents discharge readiness. There are individual differences in the preparation of neonatal parents.(2)Influencing factors of hospitalized neonate's parents discharge readiness : Parent ' s factors, medical staff, medical environment;(3)The cognitive of hospitalized neonate's parents discharge readiness for nurses: Essential cognitive is different and there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration for neonate's parents discharge readiness.Conclusion(1)The discharge newborn care ability is different forfirst-born parents and non-first-born neonatal parents, and the mother was higher than the father respectively.(2)The education background, the type of discharge care, the hospital time of the newborn, the distance between the home and the hospital, day age of neonatal admission, the age of the parent's last child were influencing factors of newborn care ability score for hospitalized neonate's parents.(3)From the point of view of nurses,it reveals the inadequacy of discharge newborn care ability, adequacy of psychological ability for neonatal parents discharge readiness. It reveals individual differences in the preparation of neonatal parents. It reveals the parents' factors, medical staff and medical environment, which affect the preparation process of the parents' discharge. And the improvement of parents' discharge readiness should be recognized by their nature and comprehensive consideration. In this study, the present situation and influencing factors of the parents' discharge readiness were understood from different perspectives,so as to provide reference for medical staff to make personalized and targeted intervention measures.
