Background: The gastrointestinal cancer patients' repeating hospitalization cost massive medical and social resources.Several studies indicated that the better perception of discharge readiness result in a lower readmission rate, less emergency readmission and less medical cost. The researches both at home and abroad showed that the related factors of discharge readiness perception included socialdemographic factors, patients physiology, psychology, knowledge, communication ability, discharge planning, nurse discharge teaching, social supports and et al.Nowadays, the subjects in domestic or aboard discharge readiness researches focused on the strokes, the post-orthopedic-surgery patients, the new-born baby parents and et al,while few studies on gastrointestinal cancer patients. However, the gastrointestinal cancer patients may have insufficient preparation for hospital discharge due to lengthy treatment and toxic adverse effects. The study is to explore the gastrointestinal patients' perception of discharge readiness and analysis its influencing factors. Objective: To describe the present status of gastrointestinal cancer patients' readiness of hospital discharge in the Readiness for hospital discharge scale Chinese edition(RHDS-C)and to explore its influencing factors. Methods: Methods convenience sampling was adopted to investigate 281 gastrointestinal cancer patients with the Readiness for hospital discharge scale Chinese edition(RHDS-C).Independent sample t test was used to analyze the factors affecting the discharge readiness of single factor variance analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis.Result:281 patients were enrolled, ranging from 22 to 80 years old,the median age is 62,male 175(62.3%),female 106(37.7%).The total mean scores of RHDS were 102.41±20.32.The personal status score was(22.56±5.97),the adaptation was(43.56±14.49),prospective support was(36.30±6.19).Results single factor analysis indicated that 10 factors including residence, hospitalization times,BMI,complications, pains, catheters,ECOG scales,chemotherapy-induced nausea, indwelling PICC and vomiting(CINV),hand-foot syndrome, diarrhea, and anxiety were related to the readiness of hospital discharge(P<0.05).Except the impact factors, the multiple regression analysis showed residence, hospitalization times,BMI,complication, pains,ECOG,diarrhea and axiety affect the gastrointestinal cancer patients' hospital discharge readiness. Conclusion:The hospital discharge readiness of gastrointestinal cancer patients is at a relatively high level. The influential factors are BMI,complication, pains,ECOG,diarrhea and axiety Healthcare workers could focus on those influencing factors and help patients to promote their hospital discharge readiness.
