Clinical Evaluation Of Manual Traction In The Treatment Of Congenital Muscular Torticollis Of Massive Type

Objective Observing the clinical effect of manual traction in massage therapy in treating congenital muscular torticollis(CMT)of massive type,and colparing with the conventional massage scheme as the control group,to evaluate the advantages of the optimal massage scheme with manual traction in the treatment of CMT of massive type,to provide more effective treatment for this disease.Methods 88 samples were selected and randomly divided into control group and treatment group.The control Oroup adopted the conventional massage scheme,which was formulated by the Medical Administration Department of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the(Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Schele for 95 Diseases in 22 Specialities?.The treatment group adopted the optinal massage scheme.which added manual traction on the basis of the treatment of the conventional massage scheme group.The two groups were treated once a day,five times a week for three months.Making intra-group and inter-group comparisons,the changes of Color Doppler Ultrasonography in SCM and the improvement of clinical symptoms and signs before and after massage therapy.Result Between two groups there was no significant difference in age?sex?course of disease and severity degree before therapy.Hierarchical and Quantitative Comparison of clinical symptoms and signs before and after treatment in the treatment group showed that the degree of torticollis,cervical spine rotation and cervical lateral curvature were improved by Rank Sum Test,with statistical significance(P<0.05);The difference of the changes of SCM,the size and hardness of the lump was highly statistically significant(P<0.01),which suggested the changes of SCM and the size and hardness of the lump were improved obviously before and after treatment.The clinical symptoms and signs of the control group before and after treatment were compared hierarchically and quantitatively.Rank sum test showed that there was no significant difference in the degree of torticollis,changes of SCM,cervical spine rotation and cervical lateral curvature(P>0.05).The results of Rank Sum Test showed that the changes of SCM,size of lump,hardness of lump,degree of torticollis,cervical spine rotation and cervical lateral curvature were all less than 0.05.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),suggesting that the treatment group was superior to the control group.The total effective rate of the treatment group was 65.96%and that of the control group was 39.02%.The treatment group was better than the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Conventional massage scheme and optimal lassage scheme are both safe and effective in the treatment of CMT of massive type.The optimal massage scheme with manual traction can improve the symptoms of CMT of massive type better than that of conventional massage scheme,which is worthy of further study and popularization.
