Objective: To observe the short-term and long-term efficacy and safety of acupoint application combined with acupuncture in the treatment of senile constipation(Deficiency Constipation Pattern). Methods: 72 cases of senile constipation(Deficiency Constipation Pattern)were randomly divided into treatment group and control group by Excel random drawing system,36 cases in each group. The control group was treated with acupuncture, while the treatment group was treated with acupuncture and acupoint application. Both the two group accept treatment for two courses. The scores of diagnostic questionnaire, constipation symptoms and curative effect evaluation before and after treatment, and the scores of PAC-QOL in patients with constipation were compared between the two groups. The results were analyzed by SPSS20.0 statistical software. Results: Finally, there were 35 cases in the treatment group and 34 cases in the control group.A total of 69 patients participated in the statistics.1.There were no significant differences in baseline age, gender, score of diagnostic questionnaire, score of constipation symptoms before treatment and PAC-QOL score between the two groups(P < 0.05).2.Two groups of constipation symptoms and curative effect evaluation: The treatment group was better in terms of tenesmus and abdominal distension in the near and long term(P < 0.05),but there was no statistical difference in other aspects. The short-term and long-term scores of the two groups were significantly different from those before treatment(P < 0.01).There was no significant difference in the short-term and long-term efficacy of the treatment group(P > 0.05),but there were significant differences in defecation difficulty, defecation time and abdominal distension symptoms of the control group(P <0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group was 85.71% and that of the control group was 76.47%.By rank sum test, the effective rate of the treatment group was better than that of the control group(P < 0.05).3.Two groups of constipation patients quality of life self-rating scale(PAC-QOL):There was no significant difference in the improvement of each dimension between the treatment group and the control group in the near future(P > 0.05);the improvement of each dimension integral in the long-term treatment group was better than that in the control group(P < 0.05).Both short-term and long-term treatment can improve the scores(P < 0.05),but in the comparison of short-term and long-term scores, except for psychosocial adaptation of the treatment group and the two groups' physical symptoms, there is a rebound trend in all dimensions(P < 0.05).4.Safety analysis: There was no significant difference between the two groups(P >0.05).Conclusion: Acupoint application combined with acupuncture and acupuncture is effective and safe in the treatment of senile constipation(Deficiency Constipation Pattern),and the combined therapy is better than simple acupuncture in the long-term effect, which is suitable for widespread clinical application.
