Clinical Study On The Treatment Of Gastrointestinal Tract After Chemotherapy Of Breast Cancer By Moxibustion With Seed-sized Moxa Cone Therapy

ObjectivesTo evaluate the efficacy of moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy while treating gastrointestinal reaction after chemotherapy in breast cancer.At the same time,the study on the indication of moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy to the disease was carried out.MethodsSource of casesA total of 60 chemotherapy patients with breast cancer after surgery were divided into moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group(30 cases)and drug treatment group(30 cases)randomly.All the patients came from the Foshan Hospital of TCM.Treatment optionsChemotherapy plan:By using EC-T plan or TEC plan,which is widely used within breast cancer.Drug prescription:Dexamethasone 5mg ivdrip.qd;Lansoprazole 5mg po qd.;Tropisetron Mesylate 0.25 mg po.qd.Moxibustion:base on the entire treatment above and add moxibustion on acupoints for twice.Using moxa which made to be at size of ? 2mm *h 3mm.The treatments are about to be as regular as twice a week from the day before every chemotherapy cycle till 5 days after each(7 days in total).The treatment will go through their entire four chemotherapy cycles.Time points to evaluate and indicators.Time points: the fifth day after the end of each chemotherapy cycles.Using the VAS visual scale,WHO vomiting and diarrhea grading and Bristol fecal evaluation to compare the variation within groups and between groups in curative effects.statisticalSelect the appropriate statistical analysis method according to the nature of clinical trial data(measurement data,categorical data and grade data).Analyze categorical data by chi-square test or the exact probability method.Using t test to analyze the measurement date after normality test and f test.Analyze the variation between different time points in the group by repeated measures analysis of variance.Results1.baselineDemographic statistics show that: for age,height,body weight,body surface area,marital status,medical history,family history,history of allergies,there was no significant difference between the two groups of patients(P > 0.05).They are comparable.2.Nausea and vomiting.After the four chemotherapy cycles,according to the VAS scores,there was a statistically significant difference within the moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group in Bristol scores,as well as the drugs control group(P < 0.05).There was no statistical difference between two groups in VAS scores after the first cycle of chemotherapy(P > 0.05).From the second cycle to the end of chemotherapy,the VAS scores of moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group was lower than that of the control group.There was a statistically significant difference between two groups(P < 0.05).According to the WHO standards,there was no significant difference within the moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group in the four chemotherapy cycles(P=0.36).And there was a significant difference between the drug control group(P=0.000).There was no statistical difference between two groups in VAS scores after the first cycle of chemotherapy(P=0.802).From the second cycle to the end of chemotherapy,it showed a significant difference(P<0.05).It is suggested that moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy can prevent the nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy,and it is better than drug therapy.3.Diarrhea symptomsAfter the four chemotherapy cycles,according to the VAS scores,there was a statistically significant difference within the moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group in Bristol scores(P= 0.019),as well as the drugs control group(P=0.03).There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P < 0.01).Repeated measurement and analysis suggested that the two groups showed no significant difference in the VAS score during the four cycles of chemotherapy(P> 0.05).There was no statistical difference within the moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group(P= 0.059).And there was a significant difference within the drug control group(P=0.049).There was a significant difference between the two groups in the four chemotherapy cycles(P<0.01).It is suggested that moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy can prevent the diarrhea caused by chemotherapy and is better than drug therapy.4.Symptoms of constipationAfter four cycles of chemotherapy,according to the VAS scores,there was a statistically significant difference within the moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group(P<0.01).The drug control group was significantly different(P<0.01)as also.The comparison between the two groups showed no significant difference(P> 0.05).After the four chemotherapy cycles,there was no statistical difference within the moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group in Bristol scores(P= 0.715),as well as the drugs control group(P=0.159).The comparison between the two groups showed no significant difference(P> 0.05).It is suggested that moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy can prevent and treat constipation caused by chemotherapy,and its efficacy is similar to that of drug treatment.5.Symptoms of loss of appetite.After four cycles of chemotherapy,according to the VAS scores,there was no statistical difference within the moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy group(P = 0.362).There was a statistically significant difference within the control group.(P < 0.01);The comparison between the two groups showed a statistically significant difference(P<0.01).Repeated measurement and analysis suggested that the two groups showed different changes in the VAS score during the four cycles of chemotherapy(P<0.01).It is suggested that moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy can prevent and cure the loss of appetite,and its curative effect is better than that of drug therapy.Conclusions1?Moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy can effectively prevent the gastrointestinal reactions,such as nausea,vomiting,diarrhea,constipation and loss of appetite,after chemotherapy in breast cancer patients.2?The effect of moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy on nausea,vomiting,diarrhea,and loss of appetite after chemotherapy was better than that of symptomatic treatment drugs.The effect of constipation after chemotherapy is equal to that of symptomatic treatment drugs.3?Moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone therapy is a safe,fast and effective treatment,and its suitable for clinical use.
