Effects Of Acupuncture Combined With Occupational Therapy On Hand Dysfunction After Stoke

Objective: Hand dysfunction due to stroke influence d the lab or ability and independent living s kills of patients.Seriously affected the patients' life.The most i mportant problem faced on the rehabilitation workers is to explore a more effective treat ment for i mproving the hand function of stroke people.At present,t he combination of acupuncture and western rehabilitation training is one of t he most popular methods in the work of r ehabilitation therapy.This t opic provide sci entific and efficient method fo r rehabilitation of hand dysfuncti on by researching the theoretic al study,observing the effect of acupuncture combined wit h occupational t herapy i n improving t he hand dysfunction of s trok e patients.This study f rom the hand function,t he daily life abi lity,the l ife quality,these t hree aspects t o evaluate the clinical efficacy.The hand f unction assessment using FMA?WMFT,by comparing the two kinds of scale,to explore more sensitive,accurate and scientific evaluation me thod from this study.Methods: In t he process of clinical r es earch,60 cases of hand dysfunction who met the criteria were r andomly divided into two groups.There were 30 patients eac h group.Patients i n the trea tment group received the acupuncture and occupational therapy.While,t he patients of control group were treated with s imple occupational therapy.All patients were assesse d before and after treatment.The evaluating items included: Fugl-Meyer(FMA)assessment scale and Wolf Motor Function Test(WMFT)for the hand function;Modifie d Barthel I ndex(MBI)s cale f or acti vities of daily l ife;Short Form questionnaire(SF-36)for life quality.Through these evaluatio n to observe the recovery status of hand function disorder.Results:(1)There were no s ignificant differences in the general data and the indicators score between t he two groups before the therapy(P>0.05);(2)After 8 weeks and 16 weeks,t he scores of each group in FMA,MBI,WMFT,SF-36 scale improved signific antly compared with the scor es before t herapy(P<0.05).In t erms of i mproving t he scores of FMA,MBI,WMFT,SF-36 s cale,the curati ve effect of the treatment gr oup was obviously better than th at of the control group(P<0.05);(3)After 16 weeks,each group i n WMFT,SF-36 scale improved significantly compared with t he scores after 8 weeks' treatment(P<0.05).While,the diff erence i n FMA,MBI were not significant(P>0.05).Conclusions:(1)The methods of Acupuncture combined with occupational therap y and simple occupational therapy all can be effective in i mproving hand f unction,ADL,Life quality of patients after stroke.By comparing t he clinical effect of the t wo methods,we found that acupuncture combined with occupa tional therapy was significantl y better than the simple occup ational therapy group;(2)In this study,a number of sc ales including FMA,WMFT,MBI,SF-36 scale were used to as sess the recovery of hand function.This method increased the scientific of t he research and the credibi lity of the results.In terms of evalu ating dysfunction,WMFT was more sensitive,accurate than FMA.WMFT should be widely and vigorous ly promoted in t he function evalua tion of people with cerebral apoplexy.
