Clinical Study On The Treatment Of Neuronal Tinnitus By Moxibustion Combined With Acupuncture

Objectives:To find out effective methods for the treatment of neuronal tinni tus and therefore plays a better role in the clinical application of traditional th erapies through the observation of clinical effectiveness on the treatment of ne uronal tinnitus by the combination of moxibustion and acupuncture.Methods:Divided the 60 patients who suffered from neuronal tinnitus and met the standards of inclusion into treatment group and control group through randomly number grouping method.Each group had 30 patients.The treatment group was treated with conventional acupuncture while the control group was treated with the combination of moxibustion and acupuncture.Both of the two groups chose the two sides of the yi feng,the hearing,zhongzhu,zusanli,and the taichong acupuncture points with the method of even reinforcing-reducing method.Carried out acupuncture30 minutes with five to nine moxa-cones'moxibustion once every two days.Every course of treatment contained five times'such operation.And after the finish of each course,enjoined these patients to have a couple days'rest and then continued the next course.Totally,there were four courses during the whole period of treatment.After the end of the four treatment courses,by comparing the THI integral of each item to collect data of all items both before and after the treatment,establish data base,utilize the SPSS22.0 statistic software for statistic analysis as well as evaluate the differences between the two therapies for the treatment of neuronal tinnitus.Results:1.According to the contrast among age,gender,and the course of diseas e,the numerical value of p was over 0.05.Therefore,the differences were not statistically significant.The differences of THI scores on overall evaluation,fu nctionality,severity,and affection of the two groups both before and after the treatment for tinnitus were not statistically significant with the same numerical value of p,either.2.According to the contrast of mean difference group on the tinnitus tota l score of patients from the two groups both before and after the treatment,th e numerical value of p was 0.047,which was less than 0.05,indicating that th e differences were statistically significant.3.After the treatment,patients within each group had lower scores on fu nctionality,severity,and affection,and all with a numerical value of p less tha n 0.05,which showed that the score differences on functionality,severity,and affection of patients from the two groups both before and after the treatment were statistically significant.4.The two methods were both benefit for the relief of tinnitus.The total effective rate of the treatment group was 86.7%with 12 patients were cured,8 got significantly effective relief,6 got effective relief and 4 no relief at all,while the total effective rate of control group was 73.7%with 6 patients got n o relief,6 got significantly effective relief,10 got effective relief and 4 no re lief at all.According to the chi-square analysis,the numerical value of chi-squar e was?~2=4.619 and the numerical value of p was 0.038,which was less than0.05.This showed that there were significant differences of therapeutic effect between the two methods employed by the two groups.Conclusion:1.The special treatment method adopted by moxibustion has unique treatment effect on neuronal tinnitus.Therefore,it can be popularized in clinic as a better therapy and thus promote the application of conventional therapies.2.The method of moxibustion combined with acupuncture can not only relieve the symptoms of neuronal tinnitus,but also ameliorate the concomitant symptoms of patients.Additionally,the quality of patients'lives can be improved significantly.3.The comparison between the two different therapies,moxibustion combined with acupuncture and the common acupuncture,showed that both the two approaches are of benefit to the treatment of tinnitus.However,the treatment efficacy of the former is better.4.After the treatment,both the scores of functionality,severity,affection and the total TIH score of patients of the two groups have experienced a decline,but the decline of the treatment group was more obvious.
