Internship students are the reserve and main force of future medical and health services,whose emotional management ability and mental health level will have a very important impact on the healthy development of patients and medical and health services.Few researches have targeted simultaneously the emotional management ability and mental health level of internship students,yet this study has conducted a preliminary discussion on this group with the purpose of understanding the status quo of the emotional management ability and mental health by exploring the influence factors,analyzing the correlation of both and making pertinent recommendations.The results of this paper will provide valuable references for clinical teaching management in hospital and mental health education in medical colleges or university.In this study,758 full-time undergraduate internship students from a medical university in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were selected as subjects for this study and questionnaires were filled out and withdrawn."College Student Emotion Management Questionnaire" by MengJia(2012)was used to measure their emotional management ability and SCL-90 to measure their mental health,and statistical analysis was established by SPSS22.0.General demographic data were described using frequencies and composition ratios.Emotional management skills and mental health of internship students were described using MeanąStandard Deviation.T-test or variance analysis was used to describe the variance analysis of emotional management ability.Influencing factors of emotional management ability and mental health were analyzed by Pearson's correlation analysis.Pearson's correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to analyze relationship between emotional management ability and mental health of internship students.Result:1.The emotional management ability of the medical internship students was at the mid-upper level.Emotion understanding ability>emotion awareness ability>emotional use ability>emotional performance ability>emotion regulation ability.2.Significant differences are found with different major internship students in the general questionnaire of emotional management ability,emotional expression ability and emotion awareness ability.The emotional management ability of the internship students in the general questionnaire was:clinical medicine>nursing>general medicine>stomatology>pharmacy>clinical pharmacy>preventive medicine.Clinical internship students are found to have significantly higher emotional expression ability than that of preventive medicine internship students and better emotion awareness ability than their preventive medicine,pharmacy,and clinical pharmacy counterparts;nursing internship students show more control than preventive medicine and clinical pharmacy internship students overemotional awareness ability;general medicine internship students was superior to clinical pharmacy in emotional awareness ability.3.Internship students from cities and towns have significantly better emotional performance and emotional awareness than those from rural areas.Emotion awareness ability of the only child was significantly higher than that of non-only children.4.The frequency of physical exercise was significantly different both in general emotional management questionnaire and the five factors of emotional management ability.Physical exercise frequency in the general questionnaire of emotion management ability indicates:daily>often>occasionally>never.Daily exercisers rank significantly higher mood control ability,performance ability,awareness ability,understanding ability,and application ability than those who are never,occasionally,and often;regular exercisers' mood regulation ability was significantly stronger than occasional exercisers;in terms of emotion regulation,performance,awareness and application,regular exercisers score better than those never;occasional exercisers show significantly better mood regulation ability,awareness ability and application ability than those never.5.Family education method concerning emotional management ability in the general questionnaire indicates significant difference:democratic type>free type>autocratic type>other type>indifference type>indifferent type.There are significant differences in emotion regulation ability,performance ability,understanding ability and application ability:democratic family education method was significantly better than laissez-faire in the ability to regulate emotions and understand emotions;it was significantly stronger in the emotional performance than laissez-faire and indifference methods;and it was stronger than laissez-faire and freestyle in the ability to emotions application.6.The difference between student leader internship students and non-leader internship students was extremely significant.The former has stronger emotion management ability,emotion regulation ability,expressive ability,awareness ability and application ability than the latter.7.The general questionnaire revealed significant differences between internship students who have not experienced major psychological traumatic events and those who have.The former's emotional management ability was significantly higher than the latter,and showed significantly stronger emotional regulation ability,performance ability,awareness ability and application ability.8.Salary expectation showed significant differences in the general emotional management questionnaire.Salary expectation in the emotional management ability of the general questionnaire was:10000 yuan or more>5001-8000 yuan>8001-10000 yuan>3001-5000 yuan>3000 yuan or less.There existed significant differences in the abilities of emotional regulation,performance,awareness and understanding.Salary expectation above 10000 yuan in emotional regulation ability,performance ability,awareness ability was significantly stronger than 3001-5000 yuan;salary expectation 5001-8000 yuan showed significantly higher emotional understanding ability than 3001-5000 yuan.9.Gender,age,education background,and family only-child or not had less effect on the emotional management ability of internship students.Student origins had an impact on the emotional management ability of internship students.Such factors as specialty,frequency of physical training,family education methods,whether student leader or not,experiences of major psychological traumatic events or not and salary expectations had a significant impact on the emotional management ability of internship students.10.The overall level of psychological health of internship students surveyed was higher than the national norm.Gender,age,education background,specialty,student origins,family only-child or not and whether student leader or not did not have a significant impact on the mental health of internship students.Frequency of physical training,family education methods,experiences of major psychological traumatic events or not,and salary expectations have a very important impact on the mental health of the internship students.11.The emotional management ability of internship students had significant influence on their mental health.The stronger control they have over their emotional management ability,the higher the level of their mental health,and vice versa.
