Study On The Influence Of Sericulture Production Scale On Production Efficiency

In recent years,the central rural work conference of our country has emphasized to improve the efficiency of agriculture and increase farmers’ income.Sericulture industry,as a traditional industry in China,is of great significance to increase farmers’ income.However,in recent years,with the implementation of the policy of "moving the East mulberry to the west",the scale of sericulture production in the eastern region has gradually shrunk,the enthusiasm of sericulture farmers has been frustrated,and the western region is also facing competition pressure from other countries.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the production efficiency of the main sericulture areas in order to improve the competitiveness of sericulture industry and promote the sustainable development of sericulture industry.On the basis of combing the relevant literature and existing economic theories about the measurement of production efficiency,the appropriate scale and the relationship between them,this paper first analyzes the current characteristics of sericulture production and operation in China by using the questionnaire data of 1847 farmers in 14 major sericulture producing provinces in 2016-2017,and then calculates the comprehensive production efficiency of sericulture in 14 provinces based on bootstrap DEA model and divides it into four parts It can be divided into pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency,and the quantile regression model is constructed to explore the influence of the scale expansion of sericulture production in different regions on sericulture production efficiency.The empirical results show that the regional ranking of sericulture production efficiency in 2016-2017 is the western,central and eastern regions,among which the average comprehensive production efficiency of the eastern,central and western regions in two years is 0.853,0.88 and 0.88 respectively,and the conclusion that the pure technical production efficiency and scale efficiency of each region have different impact on the local comprehensive production efficiency is drawn by decomposing the comprehensive production efficiency;At the same time,the quantile regression model is constructed to explore the influence of sericulture production scale on production efficiency in different regions: for the whole country,the central and eastern regions,the expansion of sericulture management scale is conducive to the improvement of sericulture production efficiency,but the "promotion" effect decreases with the improvement of production efficiency.For the western region,the area of mulberry garden and production efficiency are inverted U Type relationship,that is,with the improvement of production efficiency,the operation scale of mulberry garden will first promote the improvement of production efficiency and then restrain the improvement of production efficiency,while the promotion effect of silkworm number on production efficiency will gradually weaken.Finally,in view of the existing problems of sericulture industry in China,the paper gives some policy suggestions to improve the efficiency of sericulture production in China.
