Epidemiological Investigation And Treatment Of Canine Fungal Dermatosis In Baoding City

In recent years,with the increase of canines raised by people,canine dermatosis has become a problem that can not be ignored.A large number of canine fungal dermatosis cases were seen in veterinary clinics.It is easy to relapse,difficult to prevent and control,seriously affecting the appearance and growth of canines.It is also a typical zoonosis.Therefore,its correct diagnosis and treatment are particularly important.In this study,on the basis of epidemiological investigation of canine fungal dermatosis in Baoding City,a simple and efficient treatment method was established to provide some scientific data for treatment of this disease.Five hundred and eighteen canines which were diagnosed to be canine fungal dermatosis were investigated from April 2018 to March 2019 in Hebei Agricultural University veterinary hospital etc 5 animal hospitals of Boding City.The seasons,ages,sexes,breeds and locations which are easy to suffer from fungal dermatosis were observed to obtain its epidemiological characteristics.Meanwhile,70 cases were selected from them and to be divided into seven groups with ten in each group according to their location and severity.Treatment experiments were applied using different antifungal drugs,finding out the effective treatment plan.The results showed that canine dermatosis accounted for 11.56% of canine cases in Baoding City.The highest proportion of canine parasitic skin disease in canine skin cases is 30.86%.Fungal dermatosis accounted for 21.03% of canine skin cases,ranking the third in the number of canine skin cases.The infections of pathogenic Microsporum canis,Malassezia,Microsporum gypseum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes accounted for 56.18%,19.31%,15.44%,and 9.07% of canine fungal skin cases,respectively.The disease occurred frequently in June-September,and the number of cases per month accounted for 16.02%,15.44%,19.49%,and 18.73% of fungal skin cases respectively.The disease was lower in January-March,accounting for 1.16%,0.58%,1.16%.The occurrence of this disease is closely related to age.The lowest proportion of puppies in 0-2 months old is 0.77%,and the most proportion of puppies in 2-5 months old is 38.61%.After that,the proportion of the disease showed a downward trend,and the number of canine over 7 years old increased.Female and male canines in this survey accounted for 52.12% and 47.88% of fungal skin cases respectively.Among the 518 cases of fungal dermatosis investigated,there were 465 purebred canines,of which Golden Retriever accounted for a maximum of 24.95%,Teddy canines accounted for 15.91%,and Bichon canine were 10.75%.The lower proportions were 0.43% for Caucasian canines,Shetland Sheepdog and Corgi canines.The pathogenesis of fungal skin diseases is distributed in the limbs,back,face,ears,abdomen,necks,tails and whole body,the incidence of these parts accounted for 26.45%,22.78%,16.02%,11.00%,10.23%,7.14%,5.41%,0.97% of the statistical cases,respectively.In the treatment trial,the effective rate of the first and second groups of external auditory infection was 70% and 80%,and those of the third and fourth groups of local small area infection was 90% and 80%.The fifth,sixth and seventh groups were local large area infection and systemic infection,and the clinical treatment efficiency was 70%,80% and 90%.The above results indicate that the canine parasitic skin diseases in Baoding are the first in canine skin cases,and canine fungal skin diseases account for the third place.Fungal dermatosis is mainly caused by Microsporum canis,Malassezia,Microsporum gypseum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes.Most of them occur in the limbs,back,face and ears of the affected canines,and most of them occur in June to September,mainly in puppies aged from 2 to 5 months.Golden Retrievers,Teddy canines and Bichon canines are higher in statistical cases.Otomax is more effective in treating external auditory canal infections in canines.FungiSpray-50 spray is highly effective in treating small area infections in canines.Among the cases of local or systemic infection,the combination of Ante Fen tablets,Ivermectin,Multivitamin B(CoVB)injection,Lincomycin,Dexamethasone and FungiSpray-50 with anti-fungal shampoo have the best therapeutic effect.
