This dissertation is a study of wooden architectural technology during the Yuan dynasty in Sichuan province.The most retained Yuan dynasty architecture in Sichuan were built with three-bay plan and nine-ridged roof.They are different from the larger buildings with five-bay plan in roof technology and space dividing.In order to elaborate their common points,the structures and plans should be surveyed first.Buildings would be compared with each other to discover the relevancy between the structures and locations.Then the roof outlines and front appearances could be analyzed to demonstrate the existence of a regional appreciation of the beauty at that time in Sichuan.Finally,the especial technology in the Yuan architecture in Sichuan must be discussed.Many subjects offering a sharp contrast to the nearby provinces maybe have complex source.Even the Yuan dynasty was a short-lived dynasty,it ended the separation between Song and Jin.After the south of china was united with the north,the technology could be disseminated freely again.Because of the war,the economic recession and population decline had happened in Sichuan,so this region became the receiver facing news things.This thesis attempts to explain the interrelationship of Sichuan and other regions of China in the architectural technology and the reason behind. |
