Contemporary art galleries,especially those in western developed countries,have experienced a transition from “elite culture” to “popular culture”,from “closed mode” to “open mode”.Art galleries are gradually developing into a place complex with collections,research,exhibitions,education and communication,meanwhile art is becoming more and more integrated with daily life,as a result of which,“publicity” and “openness” have become the important modern indicators of modern art museum.However,the art museums in China has also shown a sharp increase in the number in the past two decades,but the contemporary art museums designed by most Chinese architects,under the premise of not knowing what contemporary art is,are closed fortresses that are lonely in the city,which are the "Opera" space belonging to a few "elite" people.The art museums of our own country always focuses on the "national expression" of major cultural events,while ignoring the daily "citizen expression." Compared with foreign art galleries,domestic art galleries generally show a phenomenon of lack of publicity.One of the prerequisites for an art museum to effectively play its social role is that it is first and foremost a public space that is popular with the public.Based on the above background,this paper will take the case of excellent art museum as the research object,by the means of theoretical research,field investigation and phenomenology,typology and morphology analysis,to explore and summarize the design strategy of realizing the publicity of art museum architecture.The article mainly includes the following contents: Firstly,the publicity theory and the spatial publicity judgment dimension are studied by means of the literature research,based on which and combined with the social role of art museum and the development of the publicity of the museum space,there are four points of public judgment dimension summarized: accessibility,inclusiveness,spatial atmosphere and functional visibility.And then,further research is carried out based on the above dimensions: Accessibility focuses on the relationship between art galleries and urban spaces as well as urban contexts.It is analyzed that how to strengthen the connection between the museum and the public from three aspects: building site selection,boundary design and geography design;Inclusiveness focuses on the diversity of public behavior in the public space of the museum,based on which,the design strategy of core space and leisure consumption space is summarized;The atmosphere of the space focuses on the perception and experience in the public visiting process,and the article analyzes the design method of enhancing public experience and pleasure from both static and dynamic aspects.In addition,special research is carried out on the leisure space that is generally lacking in domestic art museums;Finally,combined with the art museum design project that the author participated in,the article further illustrates the application and exploration of the research content in engineering practice.
