Research On Cross Cultural Conflict Manage Me Nt Of GAC FCA

Against the economic globalization tide,it has been an important way for China to attract foreign investment thru sino-foreign joint venturing.However,due to the prominent cultural difference among countries and peoples,internally the sino-foreign joint ventures face cultural conflict arising from the differences in ways of thinking,languages,social customs and habits,and even religious beliefs.As a result cultural conflict becomes inevitable for the joint ventures.This paper presents studies on the cultural difference and conflict management inside GAC FCA thru participant observation and in-depth interview by applying the theories of culture dimensions and cross-cultural conflicts.Thru analys is,the author believes the main causes for GAC FCA's internal cultural conflicts are two aspects-the cultural differences among eastern and western countries and peoples,and the governance mode and enterprise culture of the joint venture.Focusing on these two aspects,this paper,by means of questionnaire survey on the dispatched staff from both Chinese and foreign team of the joint venture,suggests that,to the current status,cultural integrat ion thru infiltration and transformation as the best choices to improve the cultural conflict inside the JV;it also proposes three strategies of prevention before conflict,proper handling when conflict occurs and take effective use of such conflict afterwards.Finally,to ensure the effective implementation of the scheme,the paper also put in places the guarantees including cultural identity,process and mechanism and training resources.The paper takes GAC FCA's cultural conflict as the study focus and proposes the improvement strategies for the cultural conflicts inside GAC FCA by applying relevant theories of cross cultural management.It is believed that it will also shed a light on the cross cultural conflict management for other joint ventures.
