Research On Characteristics And Renewal Design Of Traditional Residential Architecture In The North Street Of Xuchang Xiangcheng

As the main constituent elements of the inheritance of the regional features,traditional dwellings,are not only the embodiment of the unique architectural form of the region,but also convey the traditional lifestyle with regional characteristics.Due to the rapid development of China’s urbanization process,and the increasing living needs of residents,these traditional dwellings with important values have been severely impacted by modern civilization and have been extensively altered,destroyed,and even dismantled.On the other hand,some areas that attach importance to traditional architectural culture are actively making efforts to preserve these traditional dwellings.However,due to lack of research,improper methods and other reasons,the loss and destruction of traditional culture has resulted in various protection purposes.This article takes the traditional residential buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Xuchang Xiang Cheng,Henan Province as an example.Through in-depth investigation visits and actual surveying and mapping,we can understand the spatial characteristics of traditional residential buildings and the living and production status of residents.This paper analyzes and summarizes the characteristics and existing problems of traditional residential buildings from the overall spatial layout of the city,the function and status quo of the North Street,the typical courtyard types and architectural forms of traditional houses,and summarizes the spatial layout characteristics of the traditional houses in the North Street of Xiang Cheng.And the form of the plane,and extract the unique architectural features of the residence in thecity.Based on the needs of residents and the future development plan expected by the Xiang Cheng County Government,the principle strategy for the renovation of traditional residential buildings in the Xiang Cheng area is proposed.According to the differences in the status quo of traditional residential preservation,different updating orientations are adopted and different approaches are adopted.Develop an updated design strategy for traditional residential buildings on the North Street of Xiang Cheng,and propose an updated design case.Through the transformation to complete the renewal of its functions,the traditional dwellings will renew their vitality.At the same time,on the basis of solving the housing problems,the original historical features of traditional dwellings will be preserved to the greatest extent,and the phenomenon of“one but thousands cities ” will be avoided.It is hoped that this research will enable the continuation of local traditional architectural techniques and culture,It is hoped that this study will enable the continuation of local traditional architectural techniques and culture,and provide a reference for the current renewed design direction and theory of the traditional residential buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
