As the carrier of folk real life, traditional dwellings are large number, widedistribution base. It is the traditional material built environment of the main componentsof the whole. Chinese traditional houses build rooted in the local natural environmentand material technology, adjust measures to local conditions, for tool material, its meetcertain life habit, production need, economic development and cultural customs andaesthetic ideas. Traditional houses yard space, because of its space shape of elasticcharacteristics, for great flexibility, it can form from single into much more complexand into the courtyard of the scale axis of multiple combination group, and can adapt toall kinds of family use need, and open space of our residents live in the form of thespace used for a long time, can saying is the traditional Chinese living space the mainbody of the system. Traditional houses yard space carrying the traditional folk life, havethe professional and ambiguity sex, full of the diversity of the relation between humanand land. Excellent traditional houses yard space, historical, cultural value, but also hasa scientific and artistic value, as a kind of living history there, for we will create todaywith local characteristics and national characteristics of new building with the mostpowerful space archetype and build experience.The basis of the investigation is the surveying and mapping of the features of theprachuab, a traditional residential courtyard building found in the Ba and Shu areas. Theintention is to abandon the historically static-phenomenon explorations and insteadfocus on a dynamic analysis of the courtyard space typology. The research seeks to gobeyond the examination of the external form of the elements and instead focus on theoverall content and function of the courtyard space; to abandon the previous emphasison examining the host-guest relationship patterns; to abandon the traditional method ofanalyzing the historical progression of the building type; and to focus on the concept ofcourtyard space in an attempt to understand the logic of the building typology. Theresearch explores how the Ba-Shu traditional residential courtyard space evolved basedon the geographical and climatic environment, the political and economic environment,the folk-culture environmental influences, and the construction characteristics of theregion. The research examines how these factors work together to influence thetechnological roadmap and mechanisms that together create the unique spatialcharacteristics of the prachuab traditional residential courtyards. The study examines these factors by comparison to the traditional houses and thecourtyard spaces found elsewhere at the same time. In addition, the research of thesocio-cultural and geographical environment unique to the Ba and Shu geographical andcultural characteristics helps to give perspective and insight into the spatialcharacteristics of the courtyard houses often missing in current research. By studyingthe characteristics of the prachuab traditional residential courtyard space in new ways,the research seeks to provide a theoretical basis for inheritance and protection oftraditional houses, and to serve as a basis of reference for modern historical contextresearch.
