Traditional academies,as the main place for imparting knowledge from the middle Tang to the late Qing Dynasty,assumed the responsibility of cultural heritage.Over time,due to the hollowing of villages and towns,the rise of schools,and years of disrepair,traditional academies have lost the role of cultural heritage.However,the unique cultural atmosphere of traditional academies is still a precious resource in today's society.Against the background of national advocacy for cultural revitalization,the space renewal of the academy undoubtedly played a role in injecting fresh blood into the spread of traditional culture.In response to the above problems,the author explores the possibility of renewing the space of traditional academies with the help of strong conditions in his own environmental design profession.Aiming at the specific problems in space,the author set up a “material and spiritual” level update system from the perspective of spatial renewal,selected the traditional Minxi traditional academy as the research object,carefully combed the cultural connotation of the academy,and incorporated the “spirit” contained in the academy The content corresponds to the carrier space,helping us to reproduce the spiritual connotation of traditional academies.By demonstrating different levels of research and practice such as literature research,field investigation,design case analysis,and project design practice in traditional colleges in western Fujian,a feasible approach has been explored in the protection and renewal of traditional colleges in western Fujian.It also provides a strong basis and reference for the study of the traditional cultural and educational buildings and the use of space.This thesis is divided into six chapters,of which the key chapters are Chapters 4and 5.The first chapter introduces the research background and origin of the topic selection,the significance and goal of the topic selection,and clearly points out why the Minxi Traditional Academy should be used as the research object,and why the spatial renewal should be used as the research method.It also discusses the research value,significance and methods of the thesis.The second chapter summarizes the development of the traditional Minxi traditional academies,classifies them according to their cultural background,the status quo of the relics,and the morphological composition and other influencing factors,and summarizes the lack of functions,morphological breakages,etc.that commonly exist in the spatial renewal of traditional Minxi traditional colleges.The main problems such as the use lag,and provide research basis for the points raised in the subsequent chapters.The third chapter elaborates the related concepts of traditional college space renewal design,analyzes the advantages and values of traditional college space renewal design,and extracts effective design measures through case analysis to provide a basis for subsequent design.The fourth chapter summarizes the guiding principles and strategies of space renewal in traditional Minxi traditional academies,and proposes space renewal design measures based on material remodeling and spiritual continuation based on the above research results.The fifth chapter,taking the Peitian Nanshan College with the most western Fujian regional characteristics as a practical case,sorts out the status quo and problems,and verifies the feasibility of the design concept and method with the results of the space renewal of Nanshan College.Chapter VI summarizes the main research results and looks forward to the future development prospects of this field.
