Environmental problems such as climate warming, destruction of the ozone layer, and declining biodiversity have emerged as one of the common concerns of all countries in the world. The UN 2018/19 Frontier Report assessment report shows that waste generated by energy consumption is increasing. It is the main reason for the above problems. Most of the countries along the “Belt and Road” are in and will be in a state of development for a long time, facing enormous pressure on energy consumption. This paper studies the transmission channels of urbanization affecting energy consumption and the impact of urbanization on energy consumption in different regions, and provides theoretical support for the formulation and implementation of national urbanization strategies along the “Belt and Road” and how to reduce energy consumption. This paper adopts the combination of theoretical and empirical research methods, first combing and summarizing the research literature at home and abroad, and finds that there is no consistent conclusion on the correlation between urbanization and energy consumption at home and abroad, and then analyzes the urbanization and energy consumption of the countries along the “Belt and Road”.At present,it is concluded that urbanization and energy consumption have continued to rise. Then, from the theoretical level, the three major transmission channels of high energy consumption, innovation and consumption are discussed. The impact of urbanization on energy consumption is discussed. After the completion of the theoretical analysis, followed by empirical analysis, the paper first analyzes the relationship between urbanization and energy consumption in the “One Belt,One Road” countries as a whole, and then uses channel analysis to account for the proportion of high energy consumption, innovation and consumption. The three major transmission channels are included in the analysis, and the conclusions of urbanization to promote energy consumption are obtained. Finally, the sub-regional research method is used to empirically analyze the differences in the impact of urbanization on energy consumption in the three regions, and the transmission channels are included in the analysis of the three regions..The main conclusions of the thesis are as follows: Urbanization can mainly affect energy consumption through intermediate channels such as the proportion of high energy consumption industry, innovation ability and consumption level;from the overall level of countries along the “Belt and Road”,the integration of urbanization on energy consumption Impact is a promoting effect;at the regional level, urbanization has a positive impact on energy consumption, but the transmission channels have different effects. Finally, according to the research conclusions, this paper proposes that while promoting the development of urbanization,it is impossible to sacrifice the environment at the expense of sustainable development, reduce the proportion of high-energy industries, improve innovation capabilities, and advocate low-energy consumption methods.Use urbanization to reduce the environment for energy consumption.
