| Compact city which aims to recommend and build the city by the use of the land intensively,taking an efficient functioning,meanwhile with good quality of the environment,therefore has practiced by many western countries as an important guiding concept to restrain the disorderly expansion of cites.In China,urban construction land is limited,with the urban population increasing day by day caused traffic congestion,resources shortage,environmental deterioration and other problems.Such urban problems should be solved urgently through an appropriate compact and efficient urban development model.Along with the pattern of city construction of our country changed the way from an increment development to a reserved development,thus putting urban renewal become a key word in the construction and development of many cities hereafter.Taking the advantages of sustainable development,compact city can become the guiding concept of urban renewal planning and practice in China.In particular,the development of the surrounding area of traffic station should emphasize intensification,high efficiency and high quality.Therefore,the compact city concept is more effective in the application of the renewal and construction of the surrounding area of traffic station.This paper will summarize the characteristics of compact city by analyzing concepts and practice which correlated with compact city.By studying the typical cases of compact renewal in foreign countries,the experience of compact renewal is used for reference and the evaluation methods is proposed based on the objective of compact city.Taking the Tianhe Coach Terminal area as an example for the studying.This paper evaluates compactness of the area which based on the compact city concept,so as to find the problem of the area,serving as guiding on urban renewal strategy,and puts forward the compact city and urban renewal strategy based on the experience of foreign cities compact and renewal.There are seven chapters of this paper.The first chapter is the introduction which elaborates the background and significance of the research,sorts out the domestic and foreign research on the theory of compact city and the renewal of the surrounding area of a traffic station,sets the framework and clarifies the focus of the research.The second chapter is the basic research,analyzes the background of the formation of compact city at home and aboard and explains it’s concept,so as to put forward the three characteristics of compact city: intensive land,efficient operation and high environmental standards,then discusses the role of compact city concept in urban renewal.Chapter three through analyzing Zuidas,Shiodome area,Canary Wharf and the Hudson Yard this four cities compact and renewal,then summarizes the experience of the compact and renewal.Based on the characteristics and the goal of compact city,the fourth chapter puts forward the method of the evaluation of compact city from the middle and microcosmic level.The fifth chapter evaluates the compactness of the Tianhe Coach Terminal and find out the problem in the area.The sixth chapter puts forward the urban renewal strategy of the Tianhe Coach Terminal from five aspects of the land use,combined functions,traffic conformity,raise the environmental standards and policies promoting under the guidance of the problem.Chapter seven is a summary.This paper is expected to through studying and analyzing the characteristics of compact city,as well as by the method of compact evaluation to find out the problems of the area,in accordance with the problem to propose renewal strategies,recommend new ideas for the compact renewal of the surrounding area of traffic station in the future. |
