The Design Of Railway Station In The Compact Model

ABSTRACT:Railway passenger station is accompanied by the emergence of railway production, and with the social and technological progress constantly developing and changing. In recent years, urban development and increased exchanges between the different area, traffic has become an important factor of people's lives. Rail traffic becomes the importance means of mitigating the traffic issues in cities. The country's "long-term railway network development plan" shows that China will vigorously develop the passenger line and the construction of a large number of railway passenger stations to resolving problems of the rail transport and urban development.For building a large number of stations (in this paper refers specifically to the railway passenger station), we urgently need a new design theory for railway station which is adapt to the future urban development. This paper will illustrate the three aspects of the difference between the new station and the traditional one. They are the theory of future urban planning, the relationship between cities and railway stations and the form and design of the new station.The theory of compact city is based on the research of western cities, after the " Rio de Janeiro Declaration" in 1993,150 countries around the world get the attention and recognition on compact urban theory. The theory does lots of research on how to build a sustainable city and how to mitigate the existing problems of our cities, and it's also a model of urban development for us to reference.In order to compare the previous traditional passenger station, we call the new station that is adapted to the compact city to the compact railway passenger station.Firstly, this paper will be combined with the compact city theory of summing up the city to adapt to a new future life of the new urban structure and transport behavior. Secondly, analysis the relationship adjustment between the station and the city and the changes between the elements of a station because of the changes of the city life and transport behavior. Finally, investigate how to design the compact railway passenger station based on summarized the experience of foreign design.
