Effect Of Silk Road Economic Belt Countries' Trade Facilitation On Chinese Mechanical And Electronic Export

Under the background of rising international trade protectionism and limited room for adjustment of traditional trade barriers,trade facilitation has become a common concern of many international organizations and economies.In 2013,President Xi put forward the "Belt and Road" Initiative(BRI),emphasizing on a better trading environment by tackling trade facilitation issue.Study of trade facilitation of SREB on Chinese mechanical and electronic products' export will help China make better use of BRI to expand China's export of mechanical and electronic products,improve the trade facilitation of countries along SREB and promote the trade cooperation among them.Therefore,this thesis focuses on the following questions:(1)How much impact will trade facilitation level of SREB have on China's mechanical and electronic products'export?(2)The spatial impact of trade facilitation of SREB on China's mechanical and electronic products' export,that is,will the improvement of the trade facilitation of neighboring countries along SREB have an impact on China's export of mechanical and electronic products to that country?First,this thesis overviews literature of trade facilitation,trade facilitation based on SREB,influencing factors of mechanical and electrical products' export,and spatial econometric,and combines transaction cost theory and asymmetry information theory to explore the mechanism of the impact of trade facilitation on mechanical and Electronic products' export.Second,this thesis constructs a trade facilitation evaluation system with port efficiency,customs environment,regulatory environment,and service infrastructure as the first-level indicators,and the principal component analysis(PCA)was used to calculate trade facilitation level of 43 countries along SREB.Third,the spatial correlation of trade facilitation and export of mechanical and electrical products was tested by Moran's I,then the spatial factors was introduced into the trade gravity model to empirically study the impact of trade facilitation level on the export volume of mechanical and electrical products,and to regress the four first-level indicators instead of the comprehensive trade facilitation indicators to test the robustness of the model.Finally,based on the theoretical and empirical results,this thesis concludes in policy proposals for how to improve China's export of mechanical and electrical products from the perspective of trade facilitation.The conclusions are as follows:In 2017,more than 30%of the countries'trade facilitation level along SREB was inconvenient,and less than 20%reached a relatively convenient level.The average trade facilitation score was 0.675,which was at general convenience level,thus,there is a lot of space for improvement in trade facilitation.From the results of empirical research,in the ordinary panel regression model,when the level of trade facilitation of the SREB increased by 1%,the export volume of China's mechanical and electrical products will increase by about 1.356%.In the Space Durbin Model,for every 1%increase in the trade facilitation level of neighboring countries,the trade volume of Chinese mechanical and electronic products exported to that country will increase by 0.729%.Thus,improving trade facilitation of the counties on SREB is more important for China's mechanical and electrical products' export.Among the four indicators of trade facilitation,port efficiency is the most significant,followed by customs management,service infrastructure,and government regulation.
