| Facing with the huge competitive pressure brought by the rapid pace of technology change and demand upgrading,more and more multinational companies turn their eyes from developed countries to China and other developing countries,and occupy the high-end of the value chain by virtue of technology and market advantages,so as to establish the dominant market position.Facing the external market monopoly and technical blockade,the shortage of internal technical strength and resources,most of China’s latecomers are trapped in the shackles of "low-end locking",and it is difficult to realize the leap to high value-added links.As an important theory of innovative development,disruptive innovation provides guidance for latecomer firms to find a new way to achieve leapfrog catch-up.In particular,the theory emphasizes that technological innovation and business model innovation are the two key paths to carry out disruptive innovation.However,technological innovation and business model innovation are not isolated and parallel,they influence and promote each other,and the coupling of the two is the essence of disruptive innovation of latecomers.Therefore,to clarify the coupling evolution path of technological innovation and business model innovation is helpful for enterprises to integrate technology strategy and business model,so as to realize disruptive innovation.Based on relevant theories,this paper adopts the research method of vertical single case and grounded analysis to conduct in-depth research on the development process of BYD’s disruptive innovation.According to the coding results,the coupling path model of technology innovation and business model innovation is constructed and explained.The main research contents of this paper include:(1)Case root analysis on the coupling path of technological innovation and business model innovation of latecomer firms from the perspective of disruptive innovation.This paper focuses on the theme of coupling path of technological innovation and business model innovation in the process of carrying out disruptive innovation in latecomers.And Based on the open,spindle and selective three-level coding program,this paper analyzes the development process of BYD’s disruptive innovation,summarizes the categories,and sorts out the logical relationship among the categories,and constructs the coupling path model.(2)Interpretation of coupling path model of technological innovation and business model innovation of latecomer firms from the perspective of disruptive innovation.This paper explains the coupling process from three aspects: the evolution process of technology innovation and business model innovation,the coupling relationship and the coupling mode,and analyzes the evolution mechanism of coupling path according to the logical paradigm of coupling cause-coupling process-coupling result.The results show that the disruptive innovation of latecomers is based on the coupling of technological innovation and business model innovation,so as to drive the progress of technological capability and upgrade of value network of enterprises,and realize the destruction of traditional technology paradigm and market competition pattern.Among them,technology innovation has experienced three stages: technology imitation innovation,technology integration innovation and technology original innovation.Business model innovation has gone through three stages: product business model,industrial business model and ecological business model.They have the correlation relationship of technology embedding,economy embedding and relationship embedding,and under the action of driving factors,they form three modes of one-way driving,feedback adjustment and complex multi-link,presenting a dynamic and complex evolution process from passive adaptation to active adjustment and then to active creation.The findings of this paper theoretically enrich the application scope of disruptive innovation and clarify the coupling path of technological innovation and business model innovation in the process of disruptive innovation.In practice,it provides a scientific decision basis for China’s latecomers to establish technological and market advantages,enhance their core competitiveness,and achieve leapfrog catch-up. |
