Kenya has over the last few years invested massively in construction projects. Many of these construction projects have been funded by the government through public private partnerships and loans from various international bodies and foreign states. This has led to the growth of the construction industry in Kenya. This industry is facing challenges, for example rising court injunctions due to inadequate public participation, rising cases of deaths from collapsing buildings, increased pressure to deliver on projects, shortage of skills, resources and policy changes.Previous studies decry the poor quality that happens in construction projects.Several researchers point out that it is a necessary factor in achieving stakeholder satisfaction.A part of stakeholder participation considered in Kenya is public participation. This is evident by the steps taken at County and National government levels to enact policies and create frameworks in regards to public participation. The objectives of the research were to find the level of awareness among two populations that are involved in public participation. To identify what level of impact public participation is having on government sponsored construction projects. The researcher subscribed to the pragmatic research philosophy and also used five point Likert Scales within the questionnaires that were administered using the Survey Monkey platform.Respondents were divided into two groups.Snowball and convenience sampling were applied and data was analyzed using SPSS Version 21 and Microsoft Excel.Descriptive research design was the research design method and the research approach was carried out using mixed methods.Analysis of findings included calculation of correlations, reliability tests and multicollinearity tests were conducted.Data was presented using graphs, tables and in prose format. The research discovered that experience in the construction industry is strongly, positively related at a rate of r=0.753,to the awareness of the quality measures in the construction industry. The government has a low level of commitment at 36%to carrying out public participation and that there were different experts who were involved in the construction sector and they were drawn from different professional bodies. These bodies are self-regulatory,influential and very active in engaging construction professionals in their fields,it was clear that the County governments were leading in carrying out public participation forums.
