Research On The Influence Of Social Facilitation Effect On Safety Performance Of Civil Aviation Air Traffic Control

With the rapid development of China's civil aviation industry,the number of registered aircrafts and the number of flights have increased year by year,and the available airspace restrictions have made the space that is not adequately more congested.Civil aviation systems,especially air traffic control system,continue to bear tremendous pressure from the rapid development of civil aviation.The main responsibility of controllers is to perform air traffic control in national airspace,avoid flight conflicts,and ensure flight order and flight safety.The safety performance of controllers is related to civil aviation safety.In the past,the research on controller safety performance focused on their management system,work organization mode,fatigue,emergency response capability,etc.The few research on social facilitation effect on controller safety performance.Combined with the actual working characteristic of the controller,the tower control simulation software and eye tracker are used to build an experimental platform to simulate the real control situation,select the result and process indicators of safety performance,such as the number of control errors,maintain the safety interval,correct and effective of control intentions,maintain the identification of the aircraft,and reasonable distribution of attention.Adopt 2 social presence(alone,a human audience)× 2 task difficulty(simple,difficult)experimental design,analyze the impact of social facilitation effect on controller safety performance;Based on the eye movement index data,such as the number of fixation points,average fixation duration,saccade speed,pupil diameter,fixation entropy rate etc.the mechanism of social facilitation effect was preliminarily explained.Through data analysis:(1)Under the different task difficulty conditions,the social facilitation effect has a significant impact on the safety performance indicators,such as the number of control errors,maintain the safety interval,correct and effective of control intentions,and the reasonable distribution of attention.That is,The presence of others when complete a simple task,the number of control errors is reduced,maintain the safety interval,correct and effective of control intentions,and the reasonable distribution of attention score is improved.On the contrary,in the difficult task,the social facilitation effect has no significant effect on the maintain the identification of the aircraft;(2)The social facilitation effect has a significant impact on eye movement indicators,such as the number of fixation points,average fixation duration,saccade speed,and the fixation entropy rate.That is,the presence of others leads to an increase in the number of fixation points,and the change in the average fixation duration is related to the difficulty of the task(shortened when the task is simple,and the difficulty task is not significantly different),the saccade speed and the fixation entropy rate increase,and the social facilitation effect has no significantly affected to the pupil diameter.(3)The social facilitation effect in the controller group is mainly caused by the presence of others,leading to an increase in the level of motivation of the subjects,which in turn leads to an advantageous reaction,that is,to improve the safety performance of simple tasks and to reduce the safety performance of difficult tasks.Through the research,conducting a preliminary exploration of the social facilitation effect to controllers,which can provide reference for the introduction of control room monitoring equipment and the selection and training of controllers.
