Engineering change activity can happen at any stage of the life cycle of product,and it's unavoidable for manufacturing industry.As an automotive components supplier,there are also a lot of engineering changes from customer request,supplier request,manufacturing request,quality improvement request and cost down request.However,the company always focuses more on efficiency than effective due to resource conflict,which could cause a lot of risks for both customer and company.So it's necessary for company to control engineering change risk with efficiency and effective change management system to have more competiveness to keep as an industry leader.And both efficiency and effective change management process and change evaluation method are the key problems for company.Based on industry best practices and change quantity evaluation,this paper updated the company engineering change management process and set a risk evaluation model for quantity evaluation during change decision.Firstly,this paper updated the F company change management process based on company EC status,operation feature,and CMII and PLM requirement for change identification,evaluation,and implementation.Then,this paper recognized out four main risk elements of engineering change,impact scope,quality,delivery,and cost.A risk evaluation model was developed by using AHP method.This model,which can calculate risk value based on impact scope by DSM and previous similar change case CBR,can avoid more evaluation bias caused by engineer different experience and decrease the demand of expert support.This paper introduce four strategies,EC classification,design change control,process change control and EC implementation control,to decrease EC quantity and control company engineering change risk.Finally,One CVE JV project engineering case was successful completed with new process and also the risk evaluation model effective was validated.
