Study On The Construction Characteristics Of Traditional Settlements Along Jingxing Ancient Road (Pingding Section) Influenced By "Pingding Group" Of Shanxi Merchants

Jingxing Ancient Road has been an important channel for communication between Shanxi Province and Hebei Province since ancient times.Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the “Pingding Group” of Shanxi merchants,which is active in the Pingding area of Shanxi,have seized the advantages of transportation and resources to carry out commodity trade and promoted the development of traditional settlements along the ancient road.At present,Jingxing Ancient Road(Hebei Section)has been appraised as Important Historical Monuments under Special Preservation.Jingxing Ancient Road(Pingding Section),which is an important part of the ancient road,has not yet been included in the heritage protection system.There are a large number of traditional settlements along Jingxing ancient road,and different scholars have put forward their views on the protection and development of traditional settlements from different disciplines.However,the current research focuses on the study of a single traditional settlement,and does not conduct a holistic study of the traditional settlements along the entire well.Jingxing Ancient Road starts from Pingding Town in the West and reaches Luquan City in Hebei Province in the east.This paper takes Jingxing ancient road(Pingding section)as the research area,and takes the traditional settlements along Jingxing ancient road(Pingding section)under the influence of “Pingding Group” of Shanxi merchants as the research object.Through the interpretation of historical data,field investigation,analysis and comparison and other methods,this paper explores the influence characteristics of Pingding Merchants on the traditional settlements and building construction along the ancient road in Ming and Qing Dynasties.After summarizing the "Pingding Group" of Shanxi merchants and the traditional settlements along the ancient road,the article first explores the historical evolution process of the ancient road and settlements along the ancient road from the perspective of historical evolution.;Secondly,through the interpretation of the literature and the field research,the paper analyzes the influence of the business route of the “Pingding Group” of the Shanxi merchants on the location,shape and layout of the traditional settlements.In addition,the business behavior and commercial spirit of the “Pingding Group” of the Shanxi merchants have affected the construction of residential buildings.The residential buildings have typical commercial characteristics in terms of functional types,spatial organization,and courtyard decoration.Finally,starting from the organization of traditional settlement construction activities,explore the specific division of labor and cooperation of different social strata in the construction activities.Through the study of the traditional settlements along the ancient road,the article deeply excavates the overall value of the settlements under the influence of the commercial and trade culture of the “Pingding Group” of the Shanxi merchants,and enriches the connotation of the traditional settlements heritage,in order to make a little contribution to the protection and development of the traditional settlements Heritage along the Jinglong ancient road(Pingding section).
