The Spatial Evolution And Characteristics Of Villages Along The Jingxing Ancient Post-road

As one of the most concentrated areas of villages in Hebei Province,Jingxing area has a long history and a large number of material and intangible cultural heritage.Especially the ancient road traffic network in the county area is well developed,Among them,Jingxing ancient post-road is an important spatial centre for traveling west to T'ai-hang Mountains and east to Beijing,known as "Jinji Tongqu".Ancient post-roads have played an important role in the formation and development of villages along the route,and those villages,as witnesses of traffic development in ancient China,also have important historical and cultural value.This paper takes the some of the villages which exist till now along the South and north of Jingxing ancient post-road as the research object,takes the influencing factors of the ancient post-road as the clue,through on-site visits and study of relevant literature,analyses the historical and spatial evolution of villages along the post-road and summarizes their spatial characteristics,so as to provide a theoretical basis of preserving the integrity of the villages along the ancient post-road and the route in this area.The essay includes five parts:The first chapter summarizes the spatial distribution of the national traditional villages and the significance of the ancient post-road in Jingxing area,clarifies the research objects and related concepts,and puts forward the purpose,significance,methods and steps of this study through summarizing the research status at home and abroad.The second chapter begins with the generation environment of the ancient post-road,and analyses the natural conditions and human environment of the post-road and its surrounding areas.Basing on the former conclusion,the role of the ancient post-road and its influence on the surrounding villages are concluded;the third chapter discusses concretely the period and reason of the formation of villages along the ancient post-road,and spatial distribution characteristics of the village data samples along the post route.The fourth chapter takes the individual villages as the research object,and analyses the evolution of villages along the post-road from the types,characteristics,the development status of villages,and the spatial evolution of villages along the route.The fifth chapter focuses on the inner spatial characteristics of the villages,and discusses the general layout,street space,key point space and courtyard space of the villages along the ancient post-road.
