| The immovable historical and cultural heritage in China, particularly the construction of the “cultural relics”,such as revolutionary historical relics and representative sites, consist of multiple buildings and the surrounding settings. Therefore, the protection objects are not only the connections between the historical buildings but also the surrounding settings. The protection of the connections between historical buildings as well as the spatial relationship between the surrounding settings of cultural relics has been considered as the major task for the conservation plan of the cultural relics. The management of the basic data and the connections between cultural relics as well as the surrounding settings are very challenging to the conservation plan.Recently,as Geographic Information System(GIS)technology develops,it has been widely applied in a large variety of fields such as urban planning, and geoscience.GIS enable to integrated manage the massive spatial database, the large range continuous spatial data, and the multi-scale,multi-spatial data.In addition,GIS also has powerful spatial analysis ability such as overlay analysis, buffer analysis,cost-distance analysis, spatial statistical analysis and topology. Therefore,GIS could be applied in analyzing the huge amounts of the spatial complex basic data of the immovable historical and cultural heritages. This work designed a GIS database of Mao ZeDong’s former residence in Shao Shan Chong by using GIS to analyze the connections between the spatial data and the attribute data of the cultural relics and their surrounding settings.Furthermore,we evaluated the status of the cultural relics comprehensively based on the information query, display, statistics and spatial analysis and other functions provided by this GIS platform designed in this study. These evaluations included the heritage value assessment, conservation status assessment, surrounding settings status assessment, reserve planning assessment, etc. In the end,we designed the conservation plan of Mao ZeDong former residence in Shao Shan Chong scientifically by using GIS in delineation of protection zones, plan the infrastructure layout, measures for protecting the cultural relics and the surrounding settings. This work could provide new knowledge of GIS applying in conservation plan of other immovable historical and cultural heritage. |
