Research On The Relationship Between Convergence Space Of Shanghai's Metro Stations And Main Urban Elements Nearby

With the rapid growth of urban population and the rapid expansion of urban scale,the congestion of ground traffic has become an “urban disease” which needs to be solved and improved immediately.As the metro has several advantages,including large carrying capacity,great convenience,high speed,low energy consumption,high space utilization rate,etc.,many big cities all over the world have developed a comprehensive urban public transport system with metro transportation as backbone and buses as subsidiary.Nowadays,metro space,similar to residential,office,leisure and entertainment spaces,has already become one of the most common contact spaces for people living in big cities.As urban design and construction standards improve and the quality of all other spaces ameliorate,the metro space occupying a pivotal position in people's life should also be given enough attention.Among a metro station,the convergence space,the part that connects the station hall,platform and areas around exit,plays an important role on the conversion and transition process of different parts of the station.It is not only regarded as traffic space which contributes to streamline organization and population distribution,but also undertakes the task to enhance the value of metro commerce,to improve the urban public space and to unify the atmosphere of station and the base environment.Therefore,it is extremely necessary and meaningful to systematically research on the design of metro stations' convergence space.As a representative of China's big cities and even mega cities,Shanghai has already developed a metro transportation that can be regarded as one of the most mature rail delivery systems.Its total length of the line,the number of sites and operation scale are all ranked first in the country.In this paper,we take the convergence space of metro stations which accords with the characteristics of main urban elements nearby in Shanghai city as the study object.Through a systematic study on the relationship between convergence space and urban elements,we analyze the design rules and consideration factors of convergence space,summarize the design principles and put forward strategies.The whole study hopes to provide a systematic theoretical basis for the design and construction of the convergence space of Shanghai's as well as all other cities' metro stations.This paper discusses the relation between Shanghai metro stations and main urban elements nearby in six chapters,among which the third,fourth and fifth chapters are the main parts.The first chapter is the introduction of the research background,purpose,significance,content,methods and the status quo at home and abroad.As the outline,the second chapter defines the concept,classification and research scope.In the third chapter,through the space form,shape,surface etc.,we analyze the relationship between exit of stations and the urban elements.With a variety of strategies and angle,the fourth and fifth chapter make a detailed analysis of the relationship between convergence space and main urban elements nearby based on actual cases which help to form a more intuitive understanding.As the conclusion,the sixth chapter summarizes the full text and forecasts the future design for the convergence space of metro stations.
