Study On The Relevance Of Urban Public Space And Industrial Heritage

The rapid development of industry has greatly improved social productivity and driven the rapid expansion of urban space.With the decline of traditional industries,the city began to update the industrial space originally located in the central area of the city for the adjustment of economic structure and the improvement of spatial arrangement.During the renewal process,urban public space of the region have undergone major changes because of the legacy industrial buildings and facilities.How to deal with the problems caused by that should be based on the study of the relationship between industrial heritage and urban public space.The paper takes industrial relics and urban public space as research objects,and takes Qiaokou District of Wuhan as the research scope.Based on the theory of type morphology and star model,combined with literature research,field research and comparative research,the paper makes a systematic study of the relationship between industrial heritage and urban space and the relationship between industrial heritage and urban public space.According to the case study of evaluating the publicity of urban public space,the strategies in design are put forward under the background of industrial heritage renewal.The paper is divided into three parts:The first part is the second chapter.The development of industrial heritage and the evolution of urban space in Qiaokou District since 1889 have been teased out from the diachronic perspective which reveals the relationship between industrial space and urban space in the process of industrialization.And the different modes of industrial heritage renewal and the urban spatial texture of the Qiaokou District under its influence are summarized.The second part is the third chapter.First of all the relationship between industrial heritage and urban public space in Qiaokou District are summarized mainly from thererespects which are hierarchy,structure feature and type of urban public space.The relationship between industrial heritage and spatial form,vitality of public space in three typical cities: urban road space,water bodies and public buildings has been summarized from the diachronic perspective.The third part of the paper includes two paragraphs.According to the study of the relationship between industrial heritage and urban public space,four typical spatial sample are selected to do the study of present situation,historical evolution and public space analysis.Based on the case study,the relationship between industrial heritage and cases are revealed.Though evaluating the publicity of urban public space by the star model,the problems are summarized the strategies in design are put forward under the background of industrial heritage renewal.
