In recent years, the contradiction between the rapid-developed demand for higher education and the shortage of construction land resources is becoming more and more obvious in Shenzhen.Hence, the most urgent matter for architects is to ensure the efficient and orderly operation of the campus built on the limited land.Besides, the requirement for long-term development of the campus should also be considered. Therefore, the main idea of this paper is to explore the strategy for campus overall layout and architectural design based on intensive land-use,so as to cope with the serious conflict between the demand of campus development and the shortage of urban land resources in Shenzhen. In the beginning of this paper, through some investigation and analysis of the existing campus in Shenzhen, the author lists the existing problems in the daily use of campus in high density cities. Then learning from the cases of campus overall layout and architectural design based on intensive land-use,advanced urban design,in order to study and research practical design solutions to the problems.Ground on these, the paper summarize a series of strategies for campus overall layout and architectural design which located in the high-density city based on intensive land-use from the aspects of basic spatial pattern,three-dimensional traffic,function-compounding,intimate space and smart campus. So that the campus could fully develop the potential ability of the campus space and land resources to achieve the sustainable development under the obvious contradiction in Shenzhen. Finally, these strategies are applied to specific design practice the author participated during the internship at the T&S Studio to verified the operability.
