| Wanquan River is located in the eastern part of Hainan Island and serves as the mother river of the Hainan people. It is a tropical river that is unpolluted and has a beautiful ecological environment in China. It is known as China’s e"Amazon River".There are rivers where humans exist and there will naturally be settlements.Traditional settlements, under the combined effects of a specific natural environment and social environment, present distinctive regional features. They are a testimony of the long-term human lifestyle that seeks to live in harmony with nature and are a precious material heritage. The Wanquan River basin has a wide range. The Han nationality is the largest immigrant group in Hainan Island and is widely distributed in every corner of the Wanquan River Basin. Therefore, the Han traditional settlements in different parts of the river basin are bound to have different characteristics in space. This paper takes the Han traditional settlement in Wanquan River Basin as the research object and studies its morphology.Based on the number of buildings, aspect ratio,"shape index" in landscape ecology, dispersion, building density, courtyard space rate, fractal dimension in fractal theory, and other relevant theories,a quantitative method research system was established for settlements.Scale, settlement boundary patterns, and settlement space patterns are quantified. This system is used to quantify the settlement of each sample in the study area, from the three levels of the river:vertical space(upstream, midstream, and downstream),horizontal space(near river, far river),river level(main stream, tributary, reservoir side),respectively,on the classification of settlements, the quantitative data of the various types of settlements in the plane are compared, and the differences in the settlement patterns are analyzed to explore the causes of the differences in the traditional Han settlements in the Wanquan River Basin. The research of this thesis can be divided into the following three parts:The first part is basic research.Starting from the research object and carrier, and through the multi-disciplinary cross-research as the theoretical basis, the overview of the study area and the traditional settlements are elaborated. The second part is quantitative research.81 samples from the study area were selected to process the floorplans of the sample settlements, and the settlements of each sample were calculated using the quantitative method system. Then the data was normalized by statistical software, and according to the quantitative results of settlement on the basis of classification. The third part is the classification study.According to the three levels of the river, namely vertical space, horizontal space and river level, the classification of the settlement is studied.Through the data,it is shown whether there are obvious differences in the various settlement patterns within each level, and analyze them to explore the causes of the differences in the traditional Han settlement patterns in the Wanquan River Basin.Based on the above research, this paper concludes that the causes of the differences in the Han traditional settlement patterns in the Wanquan River Basin are summed up in two categories and eight points:The first is the natural factor and the influence of the basin’s natural environment on the settlement pattern. The river basin is a complex ecosystem. In the Wanquan River Basin, where the characteristics of the natural environment are very significant, natural factors have a direct impact on the settlement pattern and are often the most important factor.Natural factors include three points:river factors, topography and climate factors. The second is non-natural factors.Non-natural factors include two types:ideological and cultural factors,socio-economic factors. And include five points:clan culture, feng shui concept, security defense awareness, agricultural production and urbanization. |
