Research Of Qilou Buildings In Shantou Xiaogongyuan Port-openning Area

Modern Shantou is a commercial central city and a hometown of overseas Chinese in the southeast coastal areas of China.Since the opening of the port in 1860,it has developed rapidly by good location advantages,port conditions,and human and social resources.By1930 s,the port throughput jumped to third and the trade volume reached seventh in China.Qilou is the representative architectural type of modern South of the Five Ridges city commercial civilization.Under the joint role of commercial city culture,overseas Chinese culture and Chaoshan culture,the old urban area of Shantou has formed 240 thousand square meters of Qilou buildings with regional characteristics around the Xiaogongyuan Pavilion.During the past twenty or thirty years,a large number of historic buildings with historical value and cultural value has been destroyed because of the rapid social and economic development in China and Shantou is no exception.But because of various situations,Most Qilou buildings in the old city of Shantou has survived and became a precious witness of the century-long commercial port.This paper take the Qilou buildings in Shantou Xiaogongyuan Port-opening Area as the research object.Analyse the formation process,the characteristics of street and building space,the ecological design,the artistic features of the whole and the details,the decorative craft and so on to show rich historical value and cultural value of the Qilou buildings,and exploring the prospect of the protection and development.In February 2017,in the background of the rise of "Chuang Wen Qiang Guan" in Shantou,the local government started the renovation and protection of Qilou buildings in Shantou Xiaogongyuan Port-opening Area to make "the Spirit Home of Chanshan People all the World".The first phase of the the renovation and protection project has been carried out and the Qilou Buildings in Shantou have the hope to revive.This is a favorable opportunity for writing the paper and the paper will provide a strong support for the protection and development of the precious architectural heritage based on studying Shantou Qilou buildings in an architectural perspective.The paper is divided into five chapters: the first chapter introduces the researchbackground,the related research status,the object and content of the research,the significance and methods of the research.The second chapter analyzes the causes of the Qilou buildings in Shantou Xiaogongyuan Port-opening Area from the geographical climate,the economic environment,the social background,cultural factors and so on,and reviews the development course of the Qilou buildings.The third chapter studies the street characteristics,architectural characteristics and ecological considerations of the Qilou buildings in Shantou Xiaogongyuan Port-opening Area.The fourth chapter deeply interprets the architectural style type,facade constitution art,facade decoration and decorative craft of the Qilou buildings in Shantou Xiaogongyuan Port-opening Area and introduces three representative Qilou buildings.The fifth chapter expounds the significance of the protection and development of the Qilou buildings in Shantou Xiaogongyuan Port-opening Area,analyzes the existing problems in the past protection and development,and seeks the thinking of the revival of the Qilou buildings in Shantou Xiaogongyuan Port-opening Area in the future.
