Research On The Healing Landscape Design In Medical Institutions

Healing landscape,as one new form of gardening landscape,is mainly applied in the medical environment.Its research application is mature in western countries,while in China it is still in the stage of theoretical research and few excellent examples can be found.Currently the fast development of urbanization and fast life pace have directly led to many serious issues like mental sickness,acute or chronic diseases.And another reality is that more and more old-age focus on the improvement of life quality.Therefore,healing landscape could be acting as a new carrier and servicing better medical institutions in future.At present,medical institutions in China have been operating on scale and will emerge the large-scale expansion trend in future.The application prospect is broad undoubtedly,however,landscape design in most medical institutions is mainly relying on planting and they only focus on the visual element instead of comprehensive considerations including physical and psychological demand of users.In this paper,the author will have research and analysis on the design mode of healing landscape and the research design will be following certain design principles and taking medical center in Qingdao,Shandong province as the example to check the theoretical feasibility.Finally the author summarizes and concludes the suitable healing landscape design mode in medical institutions.The paper is in three parts.The first part is to introduce the question.Through the analysis of current social background,the author introduces the necessity of healing landscape application in medical institutions in future.Then the author has read and analyzed the research status of healing landscapes at home and abroad to draw a conclusion that there exist huge difference in the depth of research,especially the research is only at the theoretical stage,not even one complete set of healing landscape mode has been formed.Therefore,the author,based on current design mode,proposed the combination of microclimate and soundscape to further refine the design mode of medical institutions landscape so that the physical and psychologicalfeelings of users could be more focused,which will be of high significance to help them recover.The second part is to analyze the question.The author has had theoretical elaboration on the conceptions and characteristics of healing landscape,then the author has analyzed the sense of belonging and privacy features of those who receive medical care from the perspective of environmental psychology.Considering the positive effects of horticultural therapy and aromatherapy,the author puts forward the evaluation of landscape design with microclimate and soundscape theory.This paper has analysis on the excellent overseas healing landscape cases in Oregon Burn Center Garden and Johns Hopkins Hospital Garden,studies outstanding landscape design modes and summarizes the theoretical basis and practical significance in the application of healing landscape in medical institutions.The third part is to solve the issue.Based on the analysis of healing landscape theory,this paper summarizes that in the design of medical institution healing landscape,principles of communication,health,safety,sense of belonging,and perception shall be followed.Top priority of the design shall meet the user's requirement of use,moreover,the designer has to consider the function and target user,and adopts different improved plans separately for recuperating personnel,visitors and nursing staff.In the last,this paper summarizes the landscape design techniques involving different therapies as well as microclimate and soundscape theory so as to draw conclusions to be applied in the landscape design in the medical center,Qingdao,Shandong Province.Simultaneously,the theoretical feasibility will be checked in the process to extend some necessary assistance in the design and construction of medical institution landscapes.
