The Research On Landscape Character Of Traditional Settlement In The Middle And Downstrem Areas Of You River

Located at the junction with Hubei and Chongqing in the west region of Hunan province,the middle and downstream areas of You river is an important Tujia and Miao multi-ethnic area.It has abundant natural and culture landscape resources.The multi-ethnic groups that lived here have created a unique settlement.With the continuous development of modernization,the development and protection of traditional settlements face a series of challenges.The research is divided into three levels,namely,the recognition of traditional settlement cultural landscape corridors in the basin,the identifying landscape character of typical traditional settlements,summarizing the characteristics of traditional settlements on various scales,and the corresponding protection strategies or suggestions.The research results can be used as the basis for research on the overall traditional settlements protection in the middle and downstream areas of You river or other areas.On the corridor scale,In order to analyze the resistance using the Minimum Cumulative Resistance model,the ancient roads,traditional settlements,and cultural relics protection units distributed within the area are used as the source.and the natural resistance surface generated by the topographic relief,slope,etc.,combined with the culture resistance surface formed by the land cover type,performs the corresponding resistance analysis on the ArcGIS;Comparing with the results of the resistance analysis of the cultural routes and traditional settlements?heritage conservation unit,the final resistance zoning are obtained.Then,the systemicity,originality,integrity,and sustainability principles are used to identify traditional settlements cultural landscape corridors.They are divided into the You river-Laoche river section,the You river-Mengdong river section,and the You river-Lvdong section.The Wuling mountainous landscape type map obtained from the previous level is superimposed with the corridor map,and different landscape feature types within the corridor are identified.In the settlement scale,thetraditional settlements within the three corridor sections are selected to distinguish the landscape character elements.Since the entire historical evolution process of the study area is very similar,the culture environment is analyzed as a whole.Three categories and nine subcategories such as the natural environment,inhabited space,and aesthetic perception provide detailed analysis of various aspects of traditional settlements.From the corridor scale and settlement scale,they summarize the commonalities and characteristics respectively,and obtain their landscape characteristics.Based on this,they comprehensively consider and propose corresponding protection strategies.At the corridor level,corresponding strategies are proposed for the three corridor sections from the four aspects of the culture environment,the natural environment,the inhabited space,and the aesthetic perception;on the settlement level,the combined the characteristics and the current situation,and the corresponding protection and improvement are proposed.The study on the identification of traditional settlements and cultural corridors has determined the boundary of the corridors.It is greatly helped the systematic protection of traditional settlements and more scientific and effective than the original scattered ones.
