Justus von Liebig(1803-1873)was a Germany famous chemist and educator in the 19 th century, and the founder of the Liebig School(also known as the "Giessen Chemical School ")in the modern history of chemistry.Liebig's outstanding academic achievements in the field of chemical research and chemical education were mainly achieved during his teaching at University of Giessen in Germany from 1824 to 1852.In his 28 years at Giessen,Liebig has played a number of academic roles, including chemist, professor and school leader, and no matter what kind of role,Liebig has made outstanding contributions that will be praised by future generations. As a chemist,Liebig opened up new research fields with his keen academic vision. His achievements in organic chemistry made him a major pioneer of the early theories of organic chemistry. His work in applied chemistry provided strong support for the revitalization of the German chemical industry in the 19 th century. As a chemistry educator,Liebig was actively committed to transforming the outdated chemistry education tradition in German universities.By creating a modern chemistry education model combining laboratorial teaching with scientific research,he trained a large number of outstanding chemists and chemical industrialists. As a leader,Liebig founded the first scientific school based on the university in the modern history---liebig school. He led the school to make a series of breakthrough contributions in promoting the development of modern chemistry, and directly promoted the University of Giessen to become a "holy land of modern chemistry education",thus accelerating the process of Germany replacing France as a new international chemistry academic center.Liebig, with his outstanding achievements in the fields of scientific research, instruction and school construction, has explained to the world the image of an excellent professor in the transitional period of modern universities in the 19 th century, and provides a good referencefor the academic growth and professional development of current university teachers, especially young teachers:On the one hand,as individual teachers,we should always define the role and mission of professors in teaching and academic development, and coordinate the relationship between teaching and scientific research in practice. On the other hand, under the background of increasingly advocating teamwork and collaborative innovation in modern universities, each teacher should take the initiative to integrate into the academic team to realize the organic unity of personal growth and academic development of the discipline team.
