Abstract/Summary:
In recent years, public health emergencies have occurred one after another. In December 2019,Hubei Province and other parts of the country have discovered new coronary pneumonia(COVID-19),which has a huge impact on people’s lives and physical and mental health. The high spread and long incubation period of New Coronary Pneumonia have put many people into a state of panic.Because the patient base is large and the transmission is highly concealed, the new coronavirus has become a new pathogen that is difficult to be completely eliminated. We humans may have to face the new trend of coexistence with this virus and such infectious diseases for a long time.New Coronary Pneumonia not only harms people’s lives and health, but also threatens people’s mental health.Due to the environment of fear and anxiety caused by the epidemic, people often produce adverse emotional reactions, which affect their physical and mental health. Therefore,it is very urgent to study the psychological state and coping strategies of public health emergencies. It is particularly important to understand the mental health of the people under this public health emergency, and to explore the influencing factors. In the face of this new coronary pneumonia epidemic psychological research mainly focused on the investigation and analysis of the mental state of medical staff. The research object of this article is the public,to explore the public’s mental health status in this epidemic. The data collection time was at the beginning of February when the epidemic was the most severe, full of unknowns, and there was no clear turning point,so it could better reflect the psychological state of the people in the current epidemic. In this study, the questionnaire survey method was first used to discuss and summarize the public’s response on the mental health scale,in order to understand the impact of those factors on the public’s mental health during the epidemic.Based on this questionnaire,we conducted the following three studies:Study 1,the reliability and validity of the mental health questionnaire under the epidemic situation.Study 2:Influencing factors of mental health.Study 3:The impact of different demographic variables:area, age, gender, occupation, and economic status on mental health, and based on this,a coping strategy is proposed. The results show that the impact of the epidemic on mental health ranks anxiety, anger, fear, and depression last.Different regions have different levels of mental health, and Wuhan citizens have significantly higher levels of depression than other provinces.Compared with men, women are more prominent in fear, anxiety and anger. There is no significant difference between students and non-students.There are significant differences in different economic conditions. There is no significant difference between different age groups. From the perspective of research methods and design,it reflects on the deficiencies of this study and discusses the practical significance of this study. With a view to helping the public to adjust psychologically under public health emergencies,to cope with various bad emotions,to strengthen the psychological adjustment ability to deal with the epidemic situation, and to maintain good mental health.
