As an important trade category between China and Australia, mineral products occupy a very important position in both China and Australia. The signing of free trade agreement has weakened tariff and non-tariff barriers for trade between China and Australia, which is bound to be an impact on the mineral product between China and Australia,so studying this issue is important. The trade gravity model is introduced from the physics to the trade field. After the research and application of scholars,it has become a mature model of the trade field.Through this model,we can find out the impact of economic scale, distance, population and other factors on bilateral trade flows and draw conclusions that simulate reality.China and Australia have negotiated the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement since2005.After nearly 10 years of 21 rounds of negotiations, they signed a free trade agreement in June 2015.This paper uses the trade gravity model to analyze the trade situation of mineral products in this process, which is affected by the trade agreement, and provides reference for the signing of the follow-up free trade agreement. The article is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, which mainly introduces the background and significance of the research, related literature review, research methods and content, innovation points and deficiencies. The second part is related concepts and theoretical foundations. It mainly defines the scope of mineral products and analyzes the free trade agreements and related theories. The third part is the content analysis of China-Australia FTA and the realistic analysis of China-Australian trade in mineral products.Firstly,it summarizes the background, history and specific content of the China-Australia FTA,and analyzes the related impact on mineral products. Then, according to the relevant data, the overall trade status of mineral products in China and the trade status of mineral products between China and Australia were displayed. It was found that Australia has always been the largest import source country in China's mineral products trade, and the trade structure is very clear, with metal mineral products as the Lord. The fourth part is the empirical analysis of the impact of the China-Australia FTA on the trade of mineral products between China and Australia.Using the trade gravity model, the regression analysis of relevant data shows that the FTA has promoted the trade volume of mineral products between the two countries. The economies of thetwo countries, the proportion of ore and metal trade also played a positive role in it,and the distance between the two countries, import and export turnaround time has hindered the trade of mineral products. Finally, the trade potential of mineral products between China and Australia was measured. The fifth part is the conclusions drawn and the relevant recommendations. The article introduces the trade gravity model into the field of mineral products trade between China and Australia for empirical analysis, enriches the application of gravity model in the trade field, and uses the gravity model to quantify the signing and implementation of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement. The impact of trade, based on quantitative results, measured the trade potential of mineral products between the two countries, and proposed development proposals for China's mineral products industry.
