The quality and safety of food involves every participant in the entire supply chain,and quality and safety issues at each of these points can have serious consequences.A good traceability system can not only provide the manufacturer with the full life-cycle process of the product,but also provide consumers with inquiry services for product traceability information.This research takes prepackaged food as the research object and proposes an efficient and economical management platform based on the Internet of Things technology to achieve real-time traceability in prepackaged food supply chains and ensure a good and safe food consumption environment.The design of this platform follows SOA architecture.We have developed a hierarchical structure tracking and prepackaged food tracking platform.In addition,an integrated solution that uses both QR Code and RFID tags has been proposed to achieve real-time traceability of prepackaged food while reducing implementation costs.Furthermore,Extensible Markup Language(XML)is also used to promote information sharing between applications and stakeholders.This research uses the tortoise jelly as the case product to verify the effectiveness of the platform.Firstly,as a typical pre-packaged food,tortoise jelly has the characteristics of large output and high safety requirements.In response to this feature,this research proposes an Io T-based traceability platform to track and trace the entire life cycle of its entire supply chain.The results have been proven to be effective.Secondly,the combination of QR code and RFID technology can ensure the real-time data collection and reduce the economic cost.Finally,based on the XML data model,data communication between supply chain participants is implemented,historical information is obtained easily,stored properly,and compatible with each other.The contributions of this research are shown as three aspects.First,we have developed a traceability platform based on the Internet of Things to realize the traceability in the entire product life cycle,and it can flexibly adapt to many other fields,such as perishable food.Secondly,a solution to real-time data acquisition combining QRcode with RFID technology is proposed,which greatly reduces the cost of adopting the platform.Thirdly,the proposed platform enables participants sharing information in the supply chain to further promote their cooperation and ensure the quality and safety of prepackaged food.
