Taosibei Graveyard is located about 7 kilometers northeast of Xiangfen County,Linfen City,Shanxi Province,and is located in the north of Taosi Village.The materials studied in this paper are human skeletons unearthed from tombs dating back to the early and late Spring and Autumn Period.Methods including paleodemography,paleopathology,orthopedics,stomatology,morphometry,and ethnography are used to study and analyze the population status,health level,skull morphology and ethnic type of the ancient residents of Taosibei Graveyard.Relationships between the population of Taosibei graveyard and the related ancient population were also studied.There are seven chapters in this paper.Chapter 1: Introduction.This chapter briefly introduces the historical and geographical background of Xiangfen County and the archeological background of Taosibei Cemetery,and elaborates the research purpose and significance of this research.Chapter 2: Research on paleodemography.This chapter includes the gender ratio of the ancient residents of Taosibei graveyard,analysis of the age of death between men and women,and comparison with the surrounding population.It offered a basic understanding of the population structure of the residents buried here.Chapter 3: Research on Paleopathology.This chapter observed and analysed diseases on bones and teeth.Stress of this study was laid on the degenerative diseases on vertebrae and articular surface of the first distal metatarsal.Caires and dental calculus were studied with method of ranking.Basic understanding of the health status of Taosibei residents have been made.Chapter 4: Research of stature.This chapter uses multiple formulas to restore the height of the residents of Taosibei graveyard,and compares it with the related population.Chapter 5: Research of morphological characteristics on skulls.In this chapter,by observing and measuring the relatively well-preserved skulls,we have grasped the non-measurable traits and measurable features of the ancient residents.Chapter 6: Research on Anthropological Types.In this chapter,multivariate statistical analysis of 19 craniofacial measurements of residents in Taosibei graveyard and 10 different ancient population is conducted.The relationship between 11 groups of residents is studied.Chapter 7: Conclusion.Summary of the results of every chapter is made.
