The research materials in this paper are from Dahekou graveyard in Yicheng, excavated by Shanxi Institute of Archaeology from 2007 to 2017.We have made a comprehensive study of these human skeleton materials from aspects of paleodemography, paleopathology, body shape, skull morphology and ancient ethnography, focusing on the distance relationship between the population of Dahekou graveyard and the related ancient population.Chapter 1 IntroductionThis chapter introduces the general situation of geography and humanities in Yicheng area, and combs its historical evolution. This chapter summarizes the archaeological background information of Dahekou graveyard, expounds the purpose of this study, and explains the previous research.Chapter 2 Ancient Demography ResearchThe research mainly include the identification of sex and age of death, the statistical analysis of sex and age of death, and the comparative analysis with the related ancient population. The sex and age structure of the population in Dahekou graveyard have been clearly understood.Chapter3 Research on PaleopathologyThe pathological and abnormal phenomena of skeleton and teeth in Dahekou graveyard population were observed and counted, mainly from aspects of skeletal trauma, skeletal diseases, dental diseases, teeth wear and abnormal occurrence.Emphasis was laid on the classification and statistical study of osteophyte at the edge of vertebral body, the abrasion of upper and lower articular surfaces of vertebrae and arthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint.Chapter 4 Research on body shapeThe average height and body mass of the population in Dahekou graveyard were calculated by skeletal measurement, and compared with the related population.Through the analysis and comparison of the measured values and indices of humerus, femur and tibia,we can understand the social division of labor between men and women and the differences in lifestyle between different groups.Chapter 5 Research on Anthropological TypesThrough observation and measurement, the basic characteristics of craniofacial morphology of the population in Dahekou graveyard are known.Through comparative analysis,we know that there is little difference in physical characteristics between different groups of population of Dahekou graveyard, and we know the distance between the population in Dahekou graveyard and related ancient people. It is recognized that the physical characteristics of different groups in the pre-Qin period in southern Shanxi had little difference, and the vast majority of them can not be distinguished by regional human types.Chapter 6 ConclusionThis chapter summarizes the content of this paper, and points out the shortcomings and rethink of this study.
