Research On The International Water Resources Cooperation Between China And The Mekong River Basin Countries

Water is the source of everything.It is because of the existence of water that human beings can survive and society can develop.Rivers are an important part of the world's freshwater resources and have nurtured human civilization.With the development of society and economy,population and cities are increasing day by day.The demand for water is increasing,but the global water resources are limited,the contradiction between water supply and demand have become increasingly prominent.The problem of water resources within a country affects only one country,while the problem of international river water resources affects all countries in the basin and affects the relations between countries to some extent.The Mekong River,named Lancang River in China,is an international river that originated in China,flows through Burma,Laos,Thailand,Cambodia,and Vietnam,and finally into the South China Sea.Rivers are rich in water resources,hydropower resources,and fish resources,which have great potential for development.Mekong River countries use their own advantages to develop,utilize,and protect the water resources of the Mekong River.At the same time,these countries have cooperated in international river water resources and achieved remarkable results:the international river water resources cooperation under the original mechanism;the international river water resources cooperation in specific fields;establish new mechanisms for international river water resources cooperation.It should be noted that international river water resources cooperation among the Mekong River countries also faces many challenges,such as insufficient trust between downstream countries and China,the existence of defects in the cooperation mechanism and the intervention of large countries outside the region.In the future,China will further cooperate with other riparian states in international river water resources,gradually resolve water disputes and conflicts.More and more Chinese enterprises will"go globa",to develop and build important water resources projects in other riparian states.Therefore,the Chinese government and enterprises should actively take measures to cooperate with other riparian states in international river water resources.
