Since the 21st century, wetland degradation has become a global phenomenon.Human activities, including reclamation and infrastructure occupation of wetlands, have led to a substantial reduction in wetland area,as well as the gradually decreased of wetland quality. The restoration of degraded wetlands has become a research focus,in recent years.Wetland plants are producers of wetland ecosystems and to choose suitable wetland plants is a key way for the restoration of wetland degraded.Studies on flora of wetland plants in Guilin are the basis for the conservation and restoration of wetland ecosystem, which may providethe theoretical basis for the selection of engineered species, the disposition of community and establishment of recovery index in the process of ecological restoration. The floristic composition, characteristic and resources of higher plants in wetlands of Guilin are analyzed,on the basis of comprehensive literature collection and field investigation. The main conclusions are summarized as follows:1.Composition of species:there are 545 higher species in wetlands of Guilin, belonging to 277 genera and 118 families on the basis of literatures and field investigation.Among these, there are 488 wild species, including 52 kinds of bryophyte, belonging to 27 families,33 genera;23 fern, belonging to 13 families,16 genera;413 seed plants, belonging to 71 families,197 genera.Referring the life form, herbage is dominant and in the form of hydro ecological group, hygrophilous plant is dominant, followed by aquatic plant.Besides, there are 57 kinds of exotic species, including some types of economic cultivation and ornamental species.2.Floristic components:the composition of fern is relatively simple and the tropical distribution is dominant, both at the level of genus and family. The wild seed plants are most. The dominant families are Cyperaceae,Poaceae,Polygonaceae,Scrophulariaceae,Urticaceae,Asteraceae,Commelinaceae,Apiaceae,Hydrocharitaceae,Saxifragaceae and Onagraceae. In the level of famliy, the distribution pattern of wild spread is predominant, followed by tropical distribution. The composition of genera is scattered with most of them containing 1-5 species and the dominant genera are Polygonum,Cyperus,Potamogeton,Parnassia,Impatiens,Lindernia,Utricularia and Fimbristylis. In the level of genus, the distribution pattern of tropical distribution is predominant, followed by temperate distribution, and the ratio between the two is 1.75:1.3.Endemism:4 genrea recorded in wetlands of Guilin are endemic to China, including Glyptostrobus,Gymnotheca,Eomecon and Sheareria,42 species to China and 5 of which to Guangxi. There is no Chinese endemic families and Guangxi endemic genera.4.Protective plants:a total of 12 species have been listed as Threatened Categories(TC)of "China Biodiversity Red List",including 3 species of Endangered(EN)and 2 species of Critically Endangered(CR).Additionally,12 species, such as Najas marina,Nymphoides peltata,Aponogeton lakhonensis, are suggeeted to be protected in this areal, according to the investigation.5.Plant resources:there are more than 300 species of resource plants in wetlands of Guilin,of which, medicinal plants and ornamental plants account for a large proportion. Some of these species have potential development value and can be used in the garden or as a engineered species for the ecological restoration of wetlands6.Newly recorded plants in wetllands of Guangxi:during the process of field investigation,2 genera of Deinostema and Monosolenium,4 species such as Batrachium bungei var.micranthum,Deinostema adenocaula,Monosolenium tenerum and Egeria densa were newly recorded for Guangxi.
